TTC with Polycystic ovary syndrome and Hypothyroidism

Hi ladies! I just want to chat with other with the same problem that I have.

My H and I had been TTC since september and I know that it takes time, but I'm a nervous because of the Polycystic ovary syndrome and Hypothyroidism, it makes everything so complicated...with the medication and the super irregular cycles that make ovulation almost an impossible task.

Im 22 so my OBGYN thinks that because Im young everything would be ok. But if by april Im not pregnat I have to get a medication to ovulate.

Hope to hear from others.

xoxo,

I also have pcos and hypothyroidism. I'm on synthroid and metformin daily and am just now on my first cycle with clomid since I don't ovulate on my own. I also have to take provera each month to jump start my cycle. it definitely gets frustrating with the meds because I feel like a machine sometimes rather than a normal person haha. but my doctor told me that pcos is not a "death sentence" as far as TTC, and though it would be a little more complicated, it is definitely not impossible. so there's hope! and lots of ladies here and on the TTTC board can give you lots of feedback and tips with the pcos.

just wanted to tell you hi and good luck!

While I don't have hypothyroidism I do have PCOS and according to my doctor it is the most severe case she has ever seen. PCOS is not a death sentence when TTC but yes things won't be easy. I am also 22 and my doctor told me it would be easier to try versus later not that this is the reason we are TTC. I only take Metformin right now and so far my cycles have been regular with just that. I do go for my check up in Feb and we will see how things are going then.

Good luck!!!! It won't be easy but know you're not alone!

We started TTC in August 2011 I was diagnosed with PCOS in March 2012.  I started 1500mg of Metformin a day and had to take Provera to jump start my period for the first 6 months.  Since September, my cycles have been more regular and I've ovulated.  This cycle, I ovulated on CD23 which is a week earlier than I usually ovulate so I can tell that my cycles are becoming more "normal."

I'm 32 and DH is 37 so if I'm not pregnant within the next 3 cycles, we'll do more testing.  Blah.

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism. I'm take synthroid (88mcg) and Metformin(2000 mg) daily. However, I do ovulate on my on just by taking the Metformin.

I have had 2 very healthy and over due babies, and we're back for our third. Please know that it may be difficult, but it is attainable.

Maybe it would be beneficial to start temping and recording your temps with fertility friend. By temping you'll be able to see if you ever ovulate. You can sign up for fertility friend by clicking on anyone siggy that has a FF ticker or you can go directly to the website, fertility.friend.com (without the . Between the fertility & friend).

Also, read the newbie link at the top of this page. It is full of information about the board.

Good luck!

This, if you haven't already started.

I have PCOS & Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, currently taking Levothyroxine (137mcg) & Metformin (1000mg) daily. From what my doctor has told me, the thyroid issues shouldn't have much of an impact on trying to get pregnant if there isn't an imbalance. Medication just may need to be adjusted once I am pregnant, so it'll be monitored regularly.

I will advise, however, not to take ovulation stimulating medications under the care of your Ob/Gyn. Monitoring is a necessity. As for the comment on being young, that doesn't necessarily mean anything when it comes to fertility. I made that mistake when I first began too, I was 23 and I thought my age meant we'd have no problems getting pregnant. The best thing you can do for yourself is chart and know your cycles and be an advocate for your own health, as the ladies on this board have taught me.

Thank you ladies. I don't know if it works but Im using an APP to control my periods, ovulations and the baby making. So, I have an appointment on feb 1, my OBGYN said that maybe we could see the possibility of a medication to ovulate... Im taking 75mg of eutirox, ovusitol and vitamins, I took Progeffik to have my period, because I didn't had it for 5 months...

Do you all have babies right now? If so, congratulations and if not, well keep trying.

Should I start taking prenatal vitamins and stuff? What should I ask to my OBGYN?

Thanks again, I really appreciate your words.

xoxo,

-T
