I posted awhile ago about our dilemma of trying to decide on a name for our little girl. We were deciding between Sophia, Elena, and Evangeline or Evangelia. We have pretty much crossed Sophia off the list due to its popularity, even though we like it. Have still been struggling to decide between Elena and either Evangeline or more of a Greek spelling- Evangelia. (DH is Greek). Yesterday I came across an alternate spelling of the name Evangelina, spelled Evangelena instead. Does this look like a good compromise of the two names, Elena and Evangeline? Or does it look like it is just misspelled? If you saw this name, Evangelena, would you pronounce it the same as Evangelina? or would you pronounce the ending more like the way most people pronounce Elena? (Elayna)
Thanks for the honest feedback. I keep saying this name out loud to try to decide how it sounds and I'm having trouble deciding.
brooksidebride:I would pronounce it the same way I pronounce Evangelina. I would not think to pronounce it like Elena ("Elayna") at the end. And I would KIND OF think it just looked misspelled. I do think Evangelina is a pretty name, just to throw in those two cents. :)
Honestly, I do think that Evangelena looks misspelled.
Love: Sophia, Evangeline
Yes Evangelena looks mispelled.
Personally I don't like Evangelina/Evangelena anyways Evangeline is much better IMO.
