What to do?

We gave my MIL a "World's Best Yaya" shirt for her b-day to tell her that we're expecting. My mother is not a "Words on a Shirt" person so we haven't gotten one for her. My mother is hosting my baby shower at the end of January, and I KNOW my MIL will wear her "World's Best Yaya" shirt (she's a bit of a showboat, to put it in the nicest possible terms). I don't want my mother to feel slighted, and I don't want our guests to think we favor my MIL over my mother.

Should I get my mother a "World's Best Nana" shirt, even though she'll never wear it again and think it's tacky? What are some other ways I can show my mother, and our guests, that there are two, equally appreciated, grandmothers-to-be?

HOnestly- ask your mom.  Tell her that you know your MIL will wear it - does she want one, or is there something she'd like to represent her as a grandmother?

If she thinks it's tacky, she may not care or be upset that MIL wears one.  And really... I doubt your guests are going to think much of it.  They'll laugh at her shirt and not compare that your mom doesn't have one.

I agree with pp. FIL got a shirt with DDs picture on it and "grandpa" for DDs first bday. He offered to get my parents and us one so everyone would know who was who. Well quite frankly anyone I invited would know I was "mom" and that's not really our thing. I enjoy dressing up more and not wearing graphic Ts. My dad said he'd wear one if it made FIL feel better but they didn't feel put off by him wearing one either. Everyone kinda nicely made fun of the shirt and no one thought FIL was favored...

This might be silly, but I saw a "Grandma To Be" sash (Like Miss America style) at a party store. It was only like $3, so even if she felt silly in it, it wouldn't be a waste if you got it for a couple photo ops! :)
