Nine Month check-up

Well, my little peanut is no longer a peanut. 75% for weight, 90% for height. He was 5lbs 3oz at birth (3 weeks early) and 18 inches..I can't believe just how much they grow during the first year!

Dr. was good with our solids eating schedule and amounts, as long as he still gets 24oz-28oz of formula a day. Told us to start weaning to cows milk in another 1.5-2months. Developmental growth looks great and sleep habits are good as well. Pretty happy with the check-up overall except I'm questioning:

No shots this round? Shots again at a year.. I was told. I thought there were nine month shots? I'm not complaining, shots usually do a number on DS(fever). Instead of shots,  DS did have to get blood work for lead testing and hemoglobin tests. They said they are standard tests they run on all LOs at 9months in their office. Anyone else have this test done? I guess some Pedi do it at a year? IDK

I know all Dr.s do things differently and they all differ on various methods, just curious as to some other 9mo check-up experiences?

TIA

No, we didn't have any vaccinations at 9 months, either. Our doctor said the lead testing and whatever that other one was were optional if we filled out the questionnaire and we weren't at risk. However, my husband has a hobby that has him working with lead a lot so I knew it was a test that we'd have to have. Our doc didn't recommend starting to go off formula until at least a year, which was fine with me because I got awesome deals on formula and have a significant stockpile built up that *should* last me until his first birthday if I planned correctly. We also learned that my son was the height of an average 17 month old. I can't believe he's grown just over a foot since he was born.

DD had her second flu shot at her nine month appointment, but no other vaccines.  Also no blood work.  I'm curious if they'll do that at her 12 month appointment.  Generally they let us know what to expect at the next appointment and nothing was mentioned....hmmm.  I was surprised to hear our pedi say that we could start giving her WCM but only to give her extra calories if she needs it, not to replace BM (DD has been consistently dropping percentiles for her weight, which has had me a little worried).

Same. No shots this time around. Just a standard check. Ped said we oils slowly start cows milk, as it has the same nutrients as formula. I ebf. I've been reading lots bout it and I think I'll wait a bit longer. I'm up in Canada so things are a bit diff I think. But you're right. Every dr is different.

We're not quite there yet, but I was told no vaccines at the 9 month also. I EBF, so I'll be waiting until his first birthday to wean to WCM.

DS received one immunization at his 9 month.

All was well. we haven't discussed much about weaning yet because DS has been ill and has milk allergies so I may keep him on the formula for an extra month or so.

We concentrated more on his respiratory issues than anything else. Thankfully thing are going well!

Because where we live there are so many very old buildings, even our house was build in 1937, we were all in for the lead testing.  Our pedi's office does it standard too.  You can refuse it but I don't know why someone would.  Who knows, there's always a few.

He's a big peanut!!  DS has his 9 month check up on Wednesday; I was expecting vaccines but I'm excited to hear that he might not get any!!! Our pedi let us know last time that they will do the lead testing and I think an iron check this month; we don't live in an old house but DH reloads his own ammo and does a lot of shooting/hunting (not that DS is anywhere near any of that) but the lead issue is in the back of my mind.

DD just had her 9 month visit yesterday.  She's still in the 50th percentile for weight and 75 for height. She did get her last Hep B.  She is on an alternate vaccine schedule.  I'm not sure what the standard schedule is.  And he didn't do any bloodwork.  Maybe not all pedis do it or maybe some pedis do it later?

That's basically it.  Anyone else have a pedi that doesn't really offer too much information on solids, sleeping, development, etc?  My pedi basically just checks to make sure she's healthy and growing properly.  I mean if I have a question about anything he is very thorough and will answer my questions but he never offers any information.
