Would this be weird to you?

I have been posting lately about names for the baby boy we are expecting in May. It is between August and Louis, but we are leaning towards August as we both love it. Here is my only issue. One of my very good friends is married to an August. He goes by his middle name, and I didn't actually know August was his first name for quite some time. All of the first born males in his family are August, but they all go by their middle names. This friend just had a baby girl, and I know they are planning on having more. If they have a boy, he will be August. I've talked to her about it and she has no problem with me using August. I know you can't claim a name, but for some reason it bothers me thinking that other friends may think I "stole" her name. Maybe I'm just overthinking this. Also, we don't live in the same state and only see each other a few times a year now but are still close.
dx homozygous for 3 thrombophilias, poor egg quality, and most likely autoimmune problem. Anything I'm missing?
5 miscarriages, 1 exception DS born 4/10
TTC another miracle
3 failed cycles of clomid, 2 failed cycles of injectables, moving on to IVF 8/12
ER 8/20 22 eggs retrieved, 19 fertilized, 2 transferred, 9 frozen

I would absolutely do it, especially if her son won't go by August.

ETA: I much prefer August to Louis.

No, and you have more important things to worry about at this point.  They don't even use the name August in their day to day lives.  No one will notice except you and the friend and she doesn't seem to care.

I don't think anyone ELSE would care. If I were you though, it would bother ME. I would change it because I would want him to have a different name than someone I know (as much I can possibly plan for that, at least). Kwim?

I don't care for the name August. I'm not big on month baby names in general for the most part. That aside if you know her future child would not go by his first name then I don't see an issue. Also you don't live in the same state. While you will visit you aren't around each other all the time. One way to think of it is if you both wind up having boys and they finally meet they would think it was pretty cool to have the same name - especially when they were younger.

I really doubt any of it will matter once the baby's born. Even if people think you did "steal" the name, who freakin' cares what they think! It's a name you love, and that's all that matters.

Not weird, especially since it sounds like your friend's potential son would go by a middle name, it won't be like he would be named August.

I find the name August, especially for a boy, just weird. I never liked that name. Why are all the male family members first name August? Thats strange. Sounds like a lack of creativity in that family.

Since you don't live close by, you didn't know about her husband (and family) before choosing it and they don't go by their first names, I think it's fine to use it.

I would do it, especially if she's given you the go ahead and their 'son' won't actually ever go by the name August anyway.

If we have a boy, the top name on our list is Jacob August - August is my husbands dads middle name and I loved it the second I heard it.
