moms with more than one kiddo

Was your 2nd labor/delivery similar to your first? Was it as long as the first?

1st was 18 hours, 2 hours pushing, med free, vacuum assistance, 2nd degree tear, and ds being in the nicu for 4 hours with breathing issues

2nd was 10 hours, horrible contractions, 10 minutes pushing, wonderful epidural, no tearing, and she stayed with me afterwards.

First time around I was induced, whole process about 36hrs, healthy vaginal birth. Second time, csection. This time, csection. So totally different, but not in a labor and pushing sort of way.

None were induced

1- 40wks 1 day 16.5 hours 1 hour pushing pitocin was used

2- 36 wks 5 days 5 hours, a few pushes no pitocin

3- 36 wks 5 days (just so happen to be the exact same gestional day as the last) 10 hours, a few pushes. My water broke, and labor was slow to get going so I think that is why it was longer than my second. Pitocin was used.

#1-42 weeks 2 days- From the time my water broke 46 hours

#2- 41 weeks 1 day- From the time my water broke 32 Hours

With both girls I was in "mild labor" for about 2 days.  My water broke farely early (2 cm, which I guess only happens to 10% of women).  Then contractions slowed down...and they put me on pitocin.  That stuff is evil!  I will go natural this time and be refusing pitocin.

 Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone for all of the answers! My first little boy was 40 wk 6 days. It took about 20 hours from the time my water broke to have the baby. They put me on Pitocin, but then took me off b/c it was distressing my son. They used the vacuum to help and I had a level 4 episiotomy. I am hoping for shorter labor this time around. We'll see!

Both were almost identical except for the fact that DS came 2 weeks early and DD was 1 day early.

Lurking...

My first I was dilated 6cm at my last appt and I was sent home and ended up going into labor later that night at 38wks4d. From regular contractions to baby was about 8hrs. Pushed for about 10mins. Tore horribly.

With my second I was dilated 5cm at my last appt (38wks5d) and she decided to go ahead and send me to l&d. She broke my water and he was here  1.5hrs later. 2 pushes. My Dr missed it. No tearing at all.

Both weighed the same (7lbs7oz) but my second was 2in longer.
