Bassinets

I am not thrilled at the idea of a bassinet.  I was hoping to put baby in a crib right away, but die to the hurricane and damage to our property, we were unable to put our apartment up for sale until just this week.  So, it looks like was will be staying here for a bit, with no room for a crib.  I have been looking at carters wood bassinet as well as the arms reach co sleepers, though I would intend on keeping the side up.  Most of the reviews online are crappy though.  I wanted to know if they were accurate.  Anyone have feedback on ANY bassinet they might have used?  TIA

I have this one and really like it. It's JPMA certified, too.

I just picked up the Carters Wood Bassinet (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4466042)  at BRU the other day on serious clearance. Not sure if it's still on the same sale or not, but it was only $65 in the store even though it says $118 online. I haven't used it of course or set it up yet, but it got good reviews on the BRU site and I wanted something smaller than my pack n play this time. I did check out the floor model and I thought it seemed like it was good quality.

I borrowed this bassinet with my 1st. I liked the little vibrate/sound machine attachment. I will probably buy one soon.

We used a PNP in our room for 5 months.  I actually bought a RNP for this baby, but I'm planning on returning it because it was really just money I probably shouldn't have spent when the PNP worked so well.

I've heard a lot of positives about the arms reach co-sleeper.

I don't have much for suggestions as we just used our PNP with the newborn bassinet feature (which worked well). I was just going to suggest that if you're planning to move them to a crib asap maybe check out Once Upon a Child or Craigslist if you don't want to invest much during a short period of time.

we are moving cross country when baby is 4 months old and my mom is buying us a crib(she lives where we are moving to) so, in order for her to not have to get it shipped to our house we got a very cute bassinet from craigslist for $10.

We used a pack-n-play for 3 months with the bassinet feature and it worked great. When DS1 had some reflux, we proped 2 of the feet up on thick books (actually Harry Potter books) and it worked fantastic!

I'm not sure if the rock n play is considered a bassinet but I know a lot of babies sleep in it at first. You could also just use a pack n play.

I'm going to use a Rock n Play, mostly out of convience and laziness on my part. Its small and will fit next to my bed. They're handy to have in your room because the first couple of weeks you won't want to crawl out of bed and walk to LO's room every 3 hours for the feedings. I did as much as I can while still lying down lol

What about a PnP? We're using the one that has a bassinet and that flips into a changer. So it's all in one small area and not taking up a ton of space. Also, the playpen will come in handy later.

My little miracle.

So as silly as this may sound, I seem to associate things ALL the time.  I know friends who have kids that do it too.  We are getting a PnP but that will be for naps and play time.  I want baby to associate something else with bed time.  When we sell our place and move into a place with more bedrooms, it will be his crib, but in the meantime, I figured a bassinet.  I dont want to do a co-sleeper bc I dont want to condition him into sleeping in our bed.  But would consider a co sleeper to use with the side up.  I know.  It must sound ridiculous.

I'm in a similar situation.  I have heard rave reviews about the rock and play sleeper. We have that and an in-bed co-sleeper (called summer or something). Rock and play is only $50 - 70.

I had a lot of questions about the rock and play and here is what I ahve learned so far:

When they are very small - you put them in swaddled.  Line it with receiving blankets.

There have been some complaints about weird head shaping issues, but I know people who did not have any issues.  Supposedly - the newer versions (snugglebunny +) are better, but you should keep your eye on it - and make sure the baby isn't always laying it's head in the same position.

The incline is what makes this so great.. Less Sids risk and it's good for reflux.  Some people complain that it's harder to transition to a crib after since cribs are flat.
