Diapers!

Anyone planning on using cloth diapers? I personally want disposable diapers but I have a green husband! Trying to come up with a solution that makes us both happy.

I am!  Look into all in ones or pockets - they go on like sposies.  If you get pockets, you just need to stuff them after you've washed them.

Have you checked out the Cloth Diapering board? They are really great at answering questions and pointing you in the right direction for figuring out what type of diapers to use. I haven't been on there since before DS was born, but I'm sure it hasn't changed. I was going to CD DS, but it didn't work out.

We are.

There are a lot of different options for cloth diapers; it's not just the prefold and pins. I would look on the Cloth Diapering board for some advice as well as conducting your own research.

Would you husband be willing to do half and half? Get a couple cloth diapers to try it out when the baby comes, and if you both end up liking it, you can get rid of the disposables and exclusively CD, or the other way around.

I know this is silly but i dont think i can handle having to clean a pea green poopy diaper. Im already afraid of throwing up on my poor child having to change a disposable one! I have terrible gag issues when it comes to stuff like that. Im assuming it is something i will get over... I hope!

I have to give the cloth diaper mommies a TON of credit.

My husband & I are doing cloth! However, when we take the baby places or have grandparents babysit, we'll use disposable. We've made this decision because I'm a stay at home wife/mother- if it were any different, we would probably do disposables! Good luck!

After hours of research we have decided on the Bumgenius 4.0 with snaps for a couple of reasons:

1) Since they have pockets you can customize the absorbancy for infants, toddlers, over night etc.

2) Since they do have pockets they dry faster!!

3) The elastic is replaceable

4) There are loads of people who use these so its great to get reviews and advice about issues/topics

5) The snaps hold up longer then the Velcro

We also plan to do re-usable wipes - really silly not to if you CD :)

Check out Flip diapers or G diapers. They are a cloth cover with a disposable insert. You can also use regular cloth diapers inside the covers, so if you decide to switch to cloth you can use the same ones. I'm planning on using the covers with cloth, and using the disposable inserts when traveling. We'll see how it goes!

We used cloth on our DS from the time we came home from the hospital. He still uses them overnight now and I am excited to be able to use them again for the newbie.

We used cloth whenever we traveled as well since we were always visiting family. We just borrowed their washer and it was never a problem.

We even use cloth at daycare so don't give up on finding a daycare that's willing to work with you (if you are a WOHM).

We are using cloth.  I'm not a fan disposables, I think they are gross.   I just bought most of my stash, mostly Thirsties, Bummis and Swaddlebees covers and prefolds, and a few Thirsties and Swaddlebees AIO's.  After the infant stage, I have OS pockets as well as prefolds/covers.

I'm going half and half. I really wanted to do cloth at first,  but my husband isn't into it at all.  I plan on getting some cloth diapers to use when we are at home, and if we go out or he's with daddy we will just use disposable.

I looked into some different brands, I cant remember what one I put on my registry,  I think I'm going with the hemp ones though for sure.

I personally don't have any desire to do this - but a friend of mine does half and half.  When they are at home (she is a SAHM) they use cloth, but if they are going to be out of the house for more than an hour or so she uses disposable diapers. This saves them a lot of money, but it does add on extra laundering time for her to deal with.

This is our first, and we are going to cloth diaper.  I fell in love with The Little Bee Co. They are definitely a green co. and I spoke with the mom who started the line of diapers, who made me feel so confident in my decision.  I looked up a lot of reviews, and I cannot find a bad one for these diapers.  They are ultra adorable!!  For every diaper you purchase, they donate one to children in third world countries.  Definitely check them out on the web : )

The flips are definitely worth looking into. This is my first baby so obviously I haven't used them, but I love idea and have heard good things about them. I have a couple and plan on getting a few more to add to my collection :

the most similar to a disposable is the "all-in-one or AIO" style cloth diaper. try the bumgenius AIO that come in sizes (s, m, l). they are very simple to use.

wash the diapers at home.

I would recommend waiting until the baby is a few weeks old, and trying a few different kinds between you and your H before committing to purchasing an entire stash of cloth diapers. every child is different and some styles fit really well on some babies but not others.

they are addictive because they are so cute....so you may find yourself changing your mind LOL!

also like others have said, you don't have to use 100% one or the other. you could cloth diaper part-time (for example, only at home).

These are my absolute favorite as well. B was 8 lbs even when he came home from the hospital and I don't think they would have got him well as a newborn. I loooove flats on newborns though.

Agree with the suggestion of flips as a compromise.
