Share how you felt physically after having LO!

I feel like there's not much out there that covers what is normal to feel after having the baby.

I had a little headache the day of delivery I think from pushing so hard!

Sore from my 2nd degree tear.

Lots of painful cramping during breastfeeding!

Not able to sleep much in the hospital!

We are only on day 2, I'm sure more is to come!

Anyone else feeling these things/want to share what you're feeling?

I don't want to relive it.

In all seriousness, I remember feeling absolutely awful.  I think it's one of those things where I could either handle the exhaustion, or handle the physical pain.  I didn't do well with both.  Physically, I felt pretty ragged. I had a third degree tear and the hemorrhoids were extremely unpleasant. Definitely a lot of cramping.

Good news is, in a month or so, you will have repressed most of the pain and suffering.  At least, I did!  The human mind has crazy ways of protecting itself and I'm glad for it.

I do agree that you easily forget. I forgot a lot of this stuff from when I had my DS, that is for sure. And it is a good thing because it's not pleasant!

I felt pretty crappy in all honesty. First off, I was exhausted. Secondly, I had a second degree tear and I was extremely sore for a good 2-3 weeks. I remember feeling like my stitches were going to rip apart any time i moved. I hated it! And as my stitches started to dissolve, they became unbelievably itchy! UGH! It was a nightmare. But it was all worth it in the end.

My main problem was back pain after delivery, as well as cramping during breastfeeding. The cramping was much worse this time then when I had my first baby. Really though- I only took Tylenol or ibuprofen and that covered it. I felt pretty good, and at a week and a half out, still feel pretty good considering. Now if I could only go to the bathroom like a normal person lol.

I had an epidural problem, so I felt absolutely terrible the next day with a major neck ache that reached into my head. It hurt my neck to sit or stand, so all I could do was lie down until they fixed the problem.

I ended up being poked by epidural needles three times, so my lower back was sooooooo sore for about a week.

I only had first degree tears, but they still were not pleasant! They are just starting to heal to the point where sitting is ok.

Compared to my recovery last time (with almost 4th degree tearing), this recovery was a breeze with the pain downstairs.  The cramping afterwards, however, was AWFUL this time.  It scares me, because it gets worse with each baby, and I want another!  It was like being in labor again.  Also, my nipples did not like being nursed on for the first two weeks.  That was rough as well.  It's all good now!

I felt pretty flippin awesome both times. Tired, yes, and a little sore down there, but that's all really. My births were quite different too... With DS1 my contractions were horrible, I pushed for 3 hours, he weighed over 10lbs and had a pretty extensive tear. This time I barely felt contractions until 9cm, pushed for 10 minutes, he weighed just over 8lbs, and I had a tiny superficial tear requiring 2 stitches. Both times emotionally I was pretty even. I had a few crying spells but mainly because of sleepless nights. I consider myself lucky compared to a lot of women I've talked to.

I was completely exhausted, but I had been in the hospital for 4 days prior to being induced. I'm convinced it is impossible to sleep in a hospital, even with the help of Ambien.

I had zero vaginal pain. Seriously, none. I still don't know how I got away with that. I did have pretty bad tailbone pain and it was hard to get in and out of bed because of that. Oh, and I had cramping during BF something awful.

I was pretty sore downstairs from a 2nd degree tear and episiotomy.  It took a couple weeks for me to be able to sit down normally without very carefully and gently lowering myself down.  The cramping while BF was kind of bad at times.  I was also really exhausted from LO not sleeping well at night.

I'll still take it any day over being pregnant.  I was pretty miserable for the majority of it and whenever I feel gross or tired I just remember how much worse it was while pregnant and feel a lot better.

I had an emergency c-section so it might differ from the norm but the first day I felt absolutely physically drained.

I had an internal tear which needed to be monitored what felt like constantly. I was also practically chained to the bed (blood pressure and leg cuff monitors, pain meds, and catheter) which made me feel that much more awful.

I think my brain has tried to block memory of how I felt the first few days after having LO. haha! I had tearing, so I was sore from that. I also got mad hemrrhoids and couldn't poo for over a week. I thought I was going to die when I had my first bowel movement. Actually my first several were terrible. I still suffer from them and LO is 4 mos. Blah.

I was also swollen up like a balloon. They hooked me up to IV because I was dehydrated. I swear if someone pricked  me with a needle water would have started gushing out. I have never seen myself look like that.

I was in the hospital with LO for 2 days and probably got about 3 hours of sleep the entire time. I was EXHAUSTED and didn't want any visitors but kind of had to allow it because several family members drove over 3 hours to come see the new baby.

I remember getting so annoyed with all the nurses etc. coming into my room. I swear I never got an hour to just be by myself and try to rest. A nurse would come in to massage my uterus, then a little later to give me meds, then the pediatrican would come in, then the photographer, then it was time for blood pressure check.

I pushed for 3 hours and they realized LO was not only big, but was in a weird position stuck in my pelvis. After forceps and an episiotomy he came out but the pelvic soreness was terrible. I could barely lift my legs. Going up and down stairs was brutal. MH had to help me put pants on (even on pain killers) and help lift my legs up onto the bed so I could lay down. I was also so swollen! Not to mention my 4th degree episiotomy which wasn't so bad compared to my pelvis. I hated that peri bottle. Going no. 2 took me a week and I thought I was going to crawl up the bathroom wall it was so painful. Not to mention after that for the next week or two, if I had to go no. 2 I had to haul @$$ to the bathroom because holding it was not an option. Tmi I know. I'm so glad I'm fairly back to normal. Still not regular and my pelvis is still sore at times it other than that I'm doing good.

This delivery was 1000 times better than my last so I was feeling pretty good. I had a 1st degree tear that required two stitches, only pushed for 5 contractions and labor was only 8 hours long. I was able to sit without pain the next day and even was doing laundry and going up and down stairs easily my first day home 3 days pp. The worst was the cramping while BFing and like PP said it gets worse with each so that scares me for the potential next one. After my first delivery was 23 hours of labor, 3 1/2 hours of pushing 2 4th degree tears, kidney infection after I left and sore for what felt like forever I didn't know it could be this easy. Makes me want to have that 3rd ...

I HURT!!  LO torn me internally and it took OB 2 hours to fix me.  They had to restart my epidural to do all the stitching.  After it wore off I thought Motrin would give me pain relief.  (Yeah, laugh it up, my mother and MIL did.  But I'm a FTM, so I didn't know.). Not only did my lady parts hurt but my knees and hips.  I ended up on 2 Percaset for several days.  LO was taken to the NICU and I had to go in a wheel chair b/s I hurt so much my knees and hips were weak.  Only mild cramping during BFing.  I didn't get much sleep in the hospital b/s people would come in to check my vitals, bring meds, or I had to get up every 3 hours to go to the NICU to feed LO.  It's a good thing MH was there b/s between the pain and lack of sleep, I was in a fog.

Yes my cramping is much worse this time too! Today I've had a few lightheaded moments, I guess from blood volume changes?!

I was exhausted. I was induced and didn't sleep for the 32 hour labor and then the two nights in the hospital after, I think I maybe got 2 hrs total. My LO had problems latching the first couple days so I ended up with bleeding and chapped nipples. And I had some pressure / pain from the stitches, but was on my feet an hour and a half after delivery and felt fine all things considered. I will honestly say within a week I felt TONS better. I met with lactation, so that cleared up, and my stitches only really hurt when I did a lot of up and down the stairs. I did end up with a UTI which hurt, but that is beside the point. I was tired still, but really, I had honestly anticipated much worse.

I literally sprang off the delivery table and haven't stopped! I hated being pregnant with every fibre of my being...a little bit of vaginal soreness was nothing compared to the pregnancy hell I was in. Cramping was pretty minimal too, and nothing compared to labour. Also, no depression (even though I was considered a severe risk because I had such awful pre-partum depression). I feel great!

I thought I was the only one who didn't like being pregnant! :) Whoever said pregnancy is a "magical" time was probably a man.

I was fairly sore after a quick delivery with my first. 5 hours of labor and I opted for the epidural after back to back contractions for 2 hours. My back was achy after the epidural and I was a little sore from a second degree tear that only needed 5 stitches. I was mainly tired from not getting much sleep at the hospital and the breast feeding (improper latch caused trauma and bleeding). The cramping was uncomfortable during breastfeeding but not awful most of the time. I religiously took 800mg of ibuprofen which helped a ton. After 2 weeks I felt physically and emotionally like my old self.

So, did most people ask what went on down there, or look w a mirror? Because I was totally numb from epidural, I didn't know what was happening, but ob cut me pretty significantly. I didn't dare ask or look. Too squeamish. But I think about it and although its better than tearing badly, I guess, I still wonder if it was really necessary. DH says it was, because of Lo's heart rate dropping sharply and the need to get him out quickly. A room had been prepped for csection, but wasn't needed.
So, yeah, pain and awkwardness...two weeks tomorrow night.

I asked immediately, while the OB was delivering the placenta. At that point she couldn't tell the damage yet, but I was very interested lol. I did NOT look, or have any desire to, but I only had two stitches for a very superficial tear.

I went into labour after just 2.5h of sleep, so I was irritable for the first week because I never did get more than that long a stretch of sleep. Day one pp I felt amazing otherwise, got out of bed at 7, made up my bed, put away DH's sleep chair and fixed myself tea before breakfast came. Day 2 I still was happy and active with some pain downstairs from a second degree tear, but the indocid suppositories and sitz baths kept it minimal. My milk came in that day with minimal discomfort. But OMG, that night was hell! I went home, had loads of friends stop by, one who stayed til midnight drinking with DH. I was sobbing in the bedroom between pain from engorgment and my throbbing stitches. I also had a wicked tension headache from straining my neck during labour. It got better from there, but I couldn't stand too long the first week without significant pain downstairs. Also when I was cleaning or using the stairs a lot my flow would become heavier and red, lying down it would go back to brown. The biggest positives for me were that my breast soreness during feedings only lasted til day 4, and my weight came off super quick, only had 10 lbs left to lose after week 1. I am still 6 lbs heavier than prepregnancy, but I mostly fit in my clothes, so I'm happy.
