Spit up like water?

For the past few days, DS has been spitting up a lot of this watery looking stuff. Sometimes he does it hours after he has eaten? Is this reflux? He has been drinking bigger bottles lately since I've spaced his feedings out to 3 hours so maybe overheating?  He also has been chewing on his fist alot, too so another thought was excess saliva from maybe teething. I googled and found it could be everything from GERD to too much saliva to the formula separating in his stomach. Anyone have experience with this?

If he's spitting up after eating, try reducing the number of ounces in his bottles to see if that stops the issue. If not, keep an eye on it and call your pedi if you get concerned. Is he in pain/discomfort while spitting up?

a couple times he got upset if he spit up an swallowed it again...must not taste very good. He doesn't do it right after eating, can be a couple hours later. He hs his 2 month appt. on Wednesday so I will ask about it, just curious if anyone else had experience...poor little guy.

If the spit-up is clear, it's likely stomach acid/saliva. My DD spits up a ton and she has this quite frequently. She has reflux and is being treated for it because it's painful for her when she spits up the stomach acid/saliva.

I would talk to your pediatrician about it. Normally if they're gaining weight fine and it doesn't seem to bother them, there's no need to treat them for it.

thanks, I will ak about it. It doesn't seem to bother him all the Tim, but once in awhile he will cry after. He is still definitely growing and gaining weight though.

My 14 week old has been doing this since the beginning, I asked my dr & she said that because of her reflux she is spitting up the lining of her stomach.  She takes a prescription for her reflux twice a day so that it doesn't burn her esphogus but since she is gaining weight the dr is not concerned.  I am actually considering getting a referral to a gastro specialist.

I know this post is older but I just talked w/my pedi today about this so I figured I would respond. We have noticed this with our daughter but doc said that since it doesn't seem to be bothering her that we don't need to worry about it. But maybe call your doc to confirm?
