Versions- yay or nay

For mammas that have or had a transvers/breech baby, did you or will you have a version?  My LO is currently transverse, at this point I am aware she could still flip up to the time I go into labor, however my DR doesnt seem to think she will and has brought up the option of and external version at my next appointment. Im on the fence about the whole scenerio and curious about how effective/painful/worthwhile the whole process is?

I manually flipped DD #2 at home last minute the day before labor started because she suddenly decided to go transverse. I didn't really think anything of it at the time... all I knew was that she was suddenly trying to be sideways, and I was not about to have any of that. So I pushed her head and butt till she was vertex again. Took all of 20 seconds, no pain involved. Being a little more educated now, I'd definitely only recommend letting a medical professional do it so that you avoid any injury or entanglement for baby - but if the doc wants to do it in the next week or two before she gets bigger, it might be a good idea.

If your provider is comfortable doing them, I say go for it!  My LO has been breech and my OB attempted an early version around 28 weeks.  From what I can tell, he does them quite frequently, and while it isn't necessarily a walk in the park, it wasn't too painful.  I rather put up with a few minutes of pressure/discomfort than dealing with the pain of a c-section recovery again (if your OB doesn't deliver breech vaginally)!

My BFF's third baby was transverse at about the same time and she was so terribly uncomfortable she had to do something. Her midwife had her doing various positions at home but what finally gave her relief and got the baby moved into position was seeing a chiropractor. In fact, she was so mad after the first appt that she had waited so long because she suddenly felt so good!!

I would try a chiropractor first.  I know that a version sounds like no big deal... but there are actually several associated risks.  After a failed version and a c-section, my friend learned that her baby's cord was really short so she was breech for a reason.  I think I'd probably try it to save myself from a c-section but I'd be nervous about it.  FWIW, you're still relatively early and your baby still has some time to flip.  Check out spinningbabies.com.

I would get a version before jumping right into a csection.

I'd definitely opt for the version first (and if baby refuses to turn, there is most likely a reason at that point, i.e. short cord). However, I didn't think they were performed until 37 weeks as there is the risk it could put you into labor?

you still have time for baby to turn on it's own. both my daughters turned at 37 weeks. we even talked about a version, and if at my 38 week appt if they weren't turned - scheduling a C-section. I just did the stretches that they suggest online. i have heard lots of sucess stores with chiropracters, too.

We opted against a version. We did alot of research and we just felt there could be a reason he was breech. Our doctor had told us they made sure the OR was available and they monitored the baby in case of distress. It was a chance we didn't want to take. We asked her which was more risky for baby-version or c-section and she said version although a c-section is more risky for mom. It was a chance we weren't willing to take.

I wanted a version but couldn't because of fibroids.  The OB thought that was why DD was breech.  She ended up flipping at the last minute but remained sunny side up.

Though if I hadn't had a known reason why I couldn't do a version, I would have gone for it.

Although DD did not flip for a long time, my doctor told me that a version was not an option because of an anterior placenta.

She ended up flipping at 36 weeks. I would try the chiropractor and the methods on spinning babies in the meantime. Good luck!!
