sleep woes

My DD (9 months) and DS (3, almost 4 years old) share a room. DD has been in there since she was about 9 months old. She used to wake up once in the middle of the night to eat and then sleep the rest of the time (8pm - 7am). Lately she has been waking several times a night. Most of the time she is stuck in the corner of her crib and I think she's just uncomfortable. If i put her paci back in and move her back into the center of her crib she stops crying. Sometimes she has lost her paci and cries. Sometimes I go in there and find her standing up and crying.

I want to let her cry it out but DS is sleeping in there. I am thinking about trying bumpers so if she gets stuck maybe she won't be so uncomfortable and also having my DS sleep in my older DS's room (he's only here every other weekend so his room is available most of the time). What do you all think? I can't take getting up 4 or more times a night anymore, it's driving me nuts! Do you think I should do away with the paci? Maybe that way she won't rely on it to go back to sleep? It's only sometimes that she wakes up and wants her paci, sometimes she's crying with the paci in her mouth.

I hear seperation anxiety is big at this age so that might be part of it. Maybe put a few paci's in the crib so she can always find one in the night?

DD2 puts the paci back in her mouth, or she just goes back to sleep. I have heard that babies wake up a lot at this age, from separation anxiety, as kbruington said, or maybe she is teething, and in pain? I know DD2 wasn't sleeping so well, and then two teeth popped up and now she is totally nice again. Or, she may need more formula at night? If you are going to let her cry it out, I would take the paci away and let her CIO. If you are going to do that, brave soul, I would move DS into another room until it is all settled. Get it all done at once. I am not looking forward to taking the paci away from DD2 (have been saying I am going to do it since 8 weeks ...), and I keep hoping she drops it on her own. I wouldn't bother with the bumpers, she should be able to move herself around until she is comfortable.
