Showing Much?

My husband and I recently has a successful IVF transpland on Dec 15th. This will be our second child. My question is...how normal is it to already be showing. I am 6 weeks today and I am showing. I literally look 3-4 months pregnant. Also my Beta numbers for a single egg transplant were #1 - 651 #2 1941. What are the odds of me looking at multiples? I have a sonogram Friday but am getting anxious. Anyone else show THIS early?? Help

I am not showing yet but my pants do already feel a bit tight. I think I will "look" pregnant earlier this time because of it being a second pregnancy and my belly is pretty flat normally so any bloat/bump will be visible soon. I think im bloated already due to the hormones and be constipated.. even though it won't be an actual bump I will considering showing because to a stranger I will look pregnant and that is all baby induced..

Probably bloated. The baby would be about the size of a poppy seed right now and your uterus is still below your pelvic bone.

Is this your first IVF? I have a girlfriend who has had several and she complains of being pretty bloated for a few weeks after.

The bloat is crazy in the first tri. I've heard it's even worse when doing IVF. It's probably not showing, just bloat.

If you did a fresh IVF transfer, you're probably extra bloated from your swollen ovaries.  Plus, if you're on supplemental meds (estrogen and progesterone), those can cause extra fluid retention.

If you did a single embryo transfer, I believe the likelihood of it splitting into identical twins is somewhere in the range of <1% to 3%, depending on factors like age, the procedures you had done (I think assisted hatching can increase the identical twin rate), or what study you read.  So pretty low.

Either way, good luck with the ultrasound on Friday!

Bloat for sure. Plus all the extra hormones.

I have bloat towards the end of the day but in the morning my stomach is flat. With twins.

GL Friday!

It's all bloat.  Even with twins your uterus and baby size stay pretty small until well into the second trimester - we're talking baby the size of a plum at 12 weeks, and right now, your baby is only the size of a poppyseed.  Your uterus doesn't even have to grow to accommodate baby for a few months yet.

I mean this in a non-snarky way, but that isn't completely true.

Yes your uterus is growing, but it doesn't usually grow above the pubic bone until after 14 weeks. So... it's not growing a whole hell of a lot right now.

I've always found it funny when people correct people who think they are showing and say it's bloat.  Of course it's not "baby" but it is because of the baby so to me - you're showing.  If not for your pregnancy, you would not be experiencing the bloat.  Also as pp stated you are way more bloated when you're coming off of IVF so while you're showing now - you may level off or even notice your bloat subside a bit before what you see is actually the baby.

I no longer say you're not showing, it's just bloat. I say you're probably not showing. I have a friend on here that just had baby number 3 and with #2 and #3 she very much had a bump. She's just built that way.

Most people equate the term 'showing' with the actual baby bump - that bulge in your uterus that you can see and feel once it gets up past your pubic bone.  I don't know anyone in my large circle of friends and family who've had babies who think of showing as general weight gain or bloat.  So when someone says they're showing, we all know they mean actual baby!

Yes, you're right and I'm glad you clarified.  What I meant is that the uterus itself doesn't have to get 'bigger' to accommodate baby just yet - it's only the size of a fist/orange normally, and in early pregnancy it doesn't yet have to stretch to fit around a baby the size of a poppyseed. So while it will swell some with increased blood/lining and such, it's not actually being stretched out by baby like it will in later months.

This is a good visual representation http://www.thevisualmd.com/visualizations/result/uterus_size_through_pregnancy_compared_to_fruits/2

Thanks everyone...Yes I am still taking the meds (twice daily) 4 more weeks and counting(not a fan). I do notice that in the morning I am more my normal size but not for long...haha oh well. I did not bloat with my first so I did not even think of that as an obvious answer and it was 5 years ago. I have since forgotten some things....i.e fatigue!! Yikes!!

Friday just needs to hurry- Thanks again everyone Big Smile

I have heard of this as well.

It is bloat due to the size of the baby (babies, if there are multiples) and your uterus are too small to actually be showing anything. However, if you consider bloat to come from being pregnancy and therefore by the transitive property you are "showing", then yes. It's possible to be really bloated at 6 weeks.

You'll find out on Friday!

As for showing - I am 11 weeks and have had a visible protrusion of the stomach since about 6/7 weeks. I know its all bloat but luckily it presents as a baby bump and not just all over weight.

 This is #4 for me.
