First pregnancy, water broke??

I'm 35 about to be 36 weeks on Wed, and this morning when I stood up from going to the bathroom "water" came out. Dripped on my underwear, and on my hand when I wiped it up. TMI! I've been having random contractions, some not painful, others about 5-6 on a scale of 1-10. I'm thinking about just waiting it out, and relaxing, going about my day until my contractions become more regular.

Is that safe? Any comments, suggestions, or opinions are appreciated! Just trying to ease my mind with third party thoughts! :)

 Thanks!

Lurking.

If you think your water broke, call your doctor-- they can confirm for you.  I believe ideally OBs want your baby delivered no more than 24 hours after your water breaks to avoid infection.

 Good luck!

That's not technichally true. Mine broke w/my first pregnancy and would start then stop off and on with movement, and a small leak could produce a small amount of fluid. Better safe than sorry when it's before you're full term.

Thanks you guys, just got off the phone with my doctor. I'll be heading down to the Hospital just to make sure. Hopefully everything is fine and we get to have our little man with us healthy and safe!

-Thanks!

Call your doc if you think it was your water.  They usually want you to come in because the longer you wait the more you risk infection.  You could still be in for a long labor even though your water has broken and they will want to monitor you in the hospital more than likely so they can intervene if necessary.

False alarm! I did not have my water break, and baby Paxton is active and healthy! Hopefully, he'll stay in a couple weeks longer! Thanks for everything! :)

The instructions from my OB last time were to come to the hospital if contractions had not started 24 hours after my water broke. Every Dr is different though and some want you to deliver within 24 hours (which is a bit ridiculous IMO). Call you Dr to find out what they want you to do.

ETA. Glad baby is still cooking.
