Best Bottles

My son will be 3 weeks tomorrow and we've been bottle and breastfeeding him. We have been using Playtex Advanced VentAir with wide nipples to keep it as close to breast-like as possible. But they sometimes leak (out the bottom by the vent.. we noticed it's usually right after we wash and hand dry them vs. when we let them completely air dry). We're heading out to BRU soon to grab a few items, one of them being more bottles. I'm thinking about buying one Tommee Tippee (they had the best and most reviews) and giving it a try. What bottles are you ladies using? Pros and cons of different brands you tried? TIA :)

I've been using Dr. Brown's bottles.  Seems the level 1 nipple is the slowest for my LO.  I tried other level 1 nipples on other bottles and they seem to go faster.  I tried the Born Free ones and Avent.  Dr. Brown's is the best for me so far.  Love to know how the Tommee Tippee bottles are though.

I have Avent natural, Similac, and Mam and out of the 3 LO prefers the Mam. Avent is our least favorite and surprisingly, they're the ones we bought ourselves.  I think each baby is different in their preferences though.

I breast/bottle.

I have:

2 - Phillips Advent

1 - Dr. Browns, not the glass.

 2 - Playtex Vent Aire

I like how big the Advent nipples are but they don't seem to filter the air bubbles the way the Dr. Browns and Vent Aire does. My husband LOVES the Vent Aire because he said even though Camila sucks he can hear her pull it in and the air come out (or something along those lines).

I have a friend who swears by the drop in liners and said she's heard amazing things about Tomee Tipee. I keep wanting to buy an Adiri and a Mimijumi. Since she will take breast and any bottle thus far with no problem I can't see spending the $$.

We love the calma nipple from medela. Works with medela bottles. Baby has to pull the milk through a series of 3 pinholes to get it, this makes it very difficult and the baby must work pretty much just as hard as at the breast.

We've used Avent, Tommee Tippee, Similac SimplySmart, and Dr. Brown's. The Avent and the Similac bottles were samples we received; I HATED the SimplySmart bottle, I've only used it once and not again since then. The Dr. Brown's bottles were okay, but there's a lot of "assembly required" (there's like, 4 different parts to it) and the flow seemed too fast for my LO. We alternate between the Tommee Tippee and the Avent bottles, and I like them both.

The TT bottle has never leaked for us, the flow is appropriate and LO likes the nipple. DH doesn't like the shape of the TT bottles, he says it makes it harder to hold (they work fine for me), and the nipple is a lot more "collapsable" than other nipples. Also, if you use a bottle warmer, TT bottles do not fit in most warmers, and their bottle warmer has gotten less than stellar reviews.

The Avent bottle will leak if you do not have the nipple part screwed on properly (I often have to unscrew and re-screw the cap on), and if you lose the internal ring (you'll know what I'm talking about if you get one) the bottles will be useless because they'll leak all over the place. The shape is more DH-friendly, and the nipple does not collapse like the TT bottles (not saying this is a good or bad thing, just different).

LO is BF with an occasional pumped bottle and she takes the Avent bottles best. We only tried Dr. Brown and the Medela bottles, but she didn't take either of those well. Every baby is different, though!

I love the avent airvent/ventair (one of those variations) bottles. They are awesome and also very close to breast.

Our LO is breastfeed and supplemented (with expressed BM and formula). We have Breastflow bottles by the First years and Philips Avent. Both have worked great and she has no problems switching between them and nursing. The breastflow bottles were recommended by the LC and you can get them at Amazon.com and Burlington Coat Factory.

We have the Playtex Ventair as well as tommee tippee. I like that they are both wide base, it hasn't created any nipple confusion for LO. I love the shape of the Tommee Tippee. They came highly recommended from many people, they don't flow too fast, are easy to clean and are comfortable to hold.

I do both BF/FF and we mostly use playtex nursers with drop in liners, but I also use the ventair and dr. browns. The nursers are nice because cleanup is pretty easy, but here lately my LO seems to do better with the ventair bottle instead.

We tried the Avent, Playtex Ventair and Dr. Browns.  We stuck with the Dr. Browns.  Our pedi recommended then, but they also seemed to work best for LO.  The Avent ones were way too fast and leaked.  I didn't have an issue with the Playtex, but it was on loan from a friend (unused) to try it out.  We preferred Dr. Browns.  They are a pain to wash, but once you get a system down, it's not so bad.  DS is exclusively bottle fed (BM and FF) and we have no dishwasher so it's a lot of bottles and parts.  But really not that bad IMO.
