Cradle cap

My daughter has this in the front of her scalp and I've used baby oil and A&D and a fine toothe comb and scraped through twice. It looks great for a day and then it's back. What can I do to get rid of it?

My DD has the same issue.  We have done the same as you...we also scrub with a soft bristle (eg - toothbrush).  Still doesn't work.  The pedi says we can also try Head and Shoulders or something, but that seems harsh and I am nervous it would get in her eyes.  Oh, and the other pedi in the practice said its an overproduction of skin cells, should stop, and we don't have to do anything unless the appearance bothers us.

We did the baby oil too every other day then rinse with water. (not the A&D though) and we did use the selson blue once or twice. We did it when he was real little so he did sit still. and then brushed his hair every night

have you tried coconut oil and a soft brush? usully brushing the hair stimulates the scalp to produce natural oils..also make sure you are rinsing out all of the bath soaps properly as that may be drying them out.

Tea Tree oil shampoos  ( Australian Bodycare brand not the regular store stuff with very little tea tree in them ) works great for adults with dry scalp but I don't know if its safe for use on munchkins.

Olive oil is a good, cheap solution. Didn't work for DD2, though. I used the Little Remedies (I think that is the name) cradle cap, and I also bought this free trade lavander oil shampoo stuff. I can't remember the name, but you can get it at any granola type establishment, and even target carries the brand. It is a clear bottle with purple label, and has wording all over it that makes no sense. I think that is what ultimately cleared up DD2. Hers was mild and only maybe the first 4 weeks after she was born. I would lather it up on her scalp, let it sit for maybe five minutes, and then I would pick at the large scaley bits, but brushing is probably better. I was too impatient. Luckily, DD2 didn't have any that were super attached so picking didnt irritate her.

My little guy had it too, but we used Mustela baby shampoo specifically for cradle cap, and it worked almost immediately. You should be able to find it at Babies R Us.  GL!

My DD still has it.  I haven't really tried to get rid of it.  Our pedi said it should go away on it's own.  My MIL said olive oil really works well.

California baby tea tree and lavender shampoo plus the calendula cream worked really well for us.
