What's the temp at which to worry?

I just can't remember the temperature to worry at with my 10m old.  I know for my 3yr old it's 104 but I don't recall at what age it goes up to that.

DS was ill last night and this morning has a temp of 101.4.  I'm not particularly concerned as yet because I can probably medicate that on down but I am looking for a reminder about what temp the doc wants a call for.

TIA

Im pretty certain it it still 104, I know before 12 weeks it is anything above 100.4.

I would give some tylenol.

Hope he feels better.

Under 12 weeks I think it's anything above 100.4.  After that, I was told by my pedi that it was 105.

The pedi also told us to manage the fever when it went above 101.  So motrin (if 6 months or older) to keep the temp down.  The pedi told me that there is no truth to the notion that it's beneficial to let them run a fever so that the body fights off the infection/virus.  If the temp is up above 101, I'll give motrin.

We were just fighting a pretty high fever this weekend. Doc told us we could alternate tylenol and motrin every 3 hours.  Tylenol requires 4 hrs between doses, Motrin requires 6 hrs.  Alternating every 3 hrs worked great to keep the fever down.

Thanks mamas.  When DS was a week old I was mistaken in the 104 vs 100.4 temp difference.  I had it wrong.  Thankfully a friend is a pedi and when I posted she was like "Hey, go see the doc, that's too high!" so now I'm always worried I'm thinking about DD and not considering DSs age correctly.  Anyhow, he is minorly ill and now on acetometophen/ibuprofen as needed.

ETA: And napping!  In fact, they are both napping!! Woot

Our doctor says 104.  Call your doctor before taking him in.  If you know your baby has got a cold, there is not much the doctors can do even if the temperature is higher than that.  They'll just tell you to give him acetaminophen or ibuprofen, give him a lukewarm bath and lots of water.

My daughter has been a sick for a couple of days, and acetaminophen suppository worked well.  (She gags when I give her oral medications.)

yep, it's true, nothing to do for a cold ;-)

I didn't even call.  Both kids have colds today.  They will live.

Our pedi said 105 for Buddy and 104 for Tiny.

Basically as long as you can control it with tylenol/motrin its okay to not bring them in.
