XP: BRU vent

So DH and I ordered all of our furniture from BRU the weekend after Christmas.  We signed up for the rewards program and also signed up for the credit card so we would get 10% off and 4x the amount of rewards points.  I went and logged in to the rewards program and all of our points are showing up but it is saying we have $0 rewards dollars despite earning 7,000+ points.  DH called to speak to a customer service rep. about this and she is telling us that there is a black out period beginning after Christmas to the first of February where you will not receive rewards on any purchased made during this time.  WTF!!  We looked through the entire terms and conditions and it states this nowhere and the lady at the store said nothing to us about a black out period.  I am pissed because that is $70 we should be getting back.  Has anybody else heard of this?

I have. The same thing happened to me around the same time last year, which sucked because it was right around the time of my shower so nothing that my guests bought off the registery got counted towards my rewards. I also didn't recall being informed about it ahead of time either.  I may have, but just didn't notice.

Don't know about how it works with their credit card, though.

This happened to us in 2011. We got our car seat, stroller and crib mattress and were so excited to get our rewards. We purchased in January and they told us in March when we inquired about why we weren't getting rewards dollars that post Christmas to Feb is always a blackout time period. I felt like we were punished for purchases for our March baby just because of the time of the year.

I just think the whole thing is ridiculous especially since it's not even listed in their terms and conditions.  We called customer service again after looking for it and the lady we spoke to the second time had never heard of a black out period before.  Nobody knows anything there!

Yep, I had the same thing with DS's furniture. Frankly, I have had debacle after debacle with BRU and their customer service sucks. I refuse to buy things there if there is any way around it. My personal favorite issue was when I returned a car seat base we decided we didn't need. It was a few days less than a week outside of their 90day return policy but I had my original receipt so I assumed they would just issue store credit rather than cash. That would have been fine. Instead, they were rude and only refunded a percentage of the price, citing a recent sale and saying that my receipt didn't count. I ended up losing 1520 but, frankly, where else was I going to take the thing? This is after they don't want to take the coupons for various items which are not excluded on them, plus the points debacle and their employees are almost always rude. Ugh.

Life isn't about avoiding the storm but learning how to dance in the rain

What?!  That's ridiculous.  If it's nowhere in the terms and conditions and you weren't informed, I would raise a stink about it.  Call back, speak to a manager, tweet about it.  They're scamming you.

Total bulls**t, I've heard nothing but bad things about them. So so happy that no one bought us anything from there! Get on their Facebook and add to the complaints. I've found that the best and fastest responses come from publicly calling companies out on their Facebook pages.

I pretty much hate BRU. We have a fairly new BBB in our area and I will be surprised if our BRU stays in business.

BFP #1: 2/14/11. EDD: 10/20/11. Missed m/c discovered in April at 12 weeks, d&c. BFP #2: 12/27/11. EDD: 9/9/2012.

Yet another reason to hate BRU! That happened to us, too. DS was born in Jan so we bought a lot of our baby stuff during the black out period.
