What PP said.
You might not have to wean in order to begin ovulating again. I suggest trying to lengthen the amount of time between feedings, so if you were to follow PP's suggestion, for example, instead of nursing LO midday, you could nurse in the morning, offer a sippy or bottle of cows milk midday, and nurse in the evening and at the other usual times. It could be that in a few weeks, after creating a long nurseless stretch in your day, you ovulate and get a period.
I am still nursing my 14 month old on demand and haven't had a period yet. He nurses in the morning, before and after his 2 naps, after dinner, at bedtime, once or twice during the night, and at random times if he gets scared or bumps his head or whatever. This kid loves the boob, and I plan to let him selfwean. My fingers are crossed that my fertility returns this spring, because I would love to start TTC soon. We'll see. Best of luck!
