Any of these look positive?

I am having a hard time starting out with these OPK's. Last time we tried I did BBT and CM charting...and this seemed easier, but reading them isn't. Keep in mind some of these are old an faded. The bottom is today and descending up. From 1/3/13-1/8/13.

We only have 4 months to try and find out in 4 months if we have 4 more months....my husband has cancer and just had his testicle removed in November. So, being on a timeline I want to make sure I've got this down right.

Thanks so much for taking time to look!

There are no photos, but I am so sorry about your husband.  My dad has terminal lung cancer and it's very tough to deal with.

None of those look positive.  And when read outside the recommended timeframe they're void anyway.

ETA:  The test line needs to be as dark or darker than the control line to be positive.

False. A line is a line (not evaporating line of course).

Not on an OPK braniac.

For an OPK, what sheenfaced said is accurate. For an HPT, a line is a line.

The OP is referring to OPK's...not HPT's. Sheenfaced is correct. An OPK is only positive if the test line is as dark or darker than the control line.

We're talking OPKs here, b3r.  For OPKs a test line does need to be as dark or darker than the control line.

What you said is only true for HPTs.

ETA: and apparently I'm really slow.  Shows me for opening a ton of windows before responding.  ;)

I haven't thought about using the clearblue. I had bought these last year when we were trying(before DH was diagnosed) and never got to use them. They don't expire until November of this year. I think I have 10 or so left so I will need some for next cycle. I don't want to buy in store as they are expensive...do you have a website that you usually buy from?

I always buy them at Wal-Mart, but I guess you could try Amazon.

I look at it this way, they're much more affordable than a child... If I can't afford one package of OPKs every couple of months, then there's no way in həll I'll be able to afford a kid.  ;)

HAHAHAHA! Very True! I'm just a bargain shopper...good for hubby I guess! LOL. Thanks so much. I will get some for next cycle and see if I have better luck. I'm thinking that I may have missed my peak this cycle because starting out on the first few days I was using FMU and then was told 2 days ago NOT to use FMU and to test between 11 am and 8 pm and to not drink anything for about 2 hours before hand. So I did that on the last 3. There was one day I tested twice because the first one looked positive but I wanted to be sure and the second one was lighter. So, I'm just not 100% on these. Charting BBT was much easier but where I am a SAHM now I cherish my sleep so I don't know if I could wake up at 6 am to get it everyday now! LOL!Smile I'm trying to be less stressed and more carefree this time around, but these darned ol' things are driving me bonkers!

I bought a 20-pack of the Clear Blue digitals from Amazon last cycle and used them to confirm my O day. If I had a questionable wondfo, I just grabbed a digital and dipped and it confirmed for me! You only have to use a few per cycle if you do this.

Can't click on the links, but I am sorry about your husband...that is a lot to go through. Hoping everything works out for him and you both get your baby! Smile

Also, try a digital OPK since your trying window is so small right now...they are super easy to read (a little more expensive but maybe worth it?)

I'd be careful about using older OPK's, even if the expiration date hasn't passed.  Oxygen dries them out and can give you false negatives.  So if you opened the package more than 30 days before you start using them, consider buying more, ok?

I wrecked my first cycle making the same mistake.  By the time I realized that I had O'd, we had already missed our best opportunity.

I wasn't talking about the ones she posted. I was explaining that I only use them a few times in a cycle, not the entire time. She said something about not wanting to buy in store because they are expensive, so only using a few during a cycle with wondfos would be cheaper. Like to confirm when you've got a questionable wondfo, in the future.

Oh, no I didn't open the packages. They come individually packaged. I am going ahead and finishing with them this cycle and I think I'm going ahead with the clearblue next time. I'm hoping next cycle will be easier to follow. I'm trying so hard to keep it fun and make it seem like they are not scheduled attempts at procreation!!! LOL!!!

OP, I just want to encourage you to start charting again.  I understand wanting to sleep in when you can but with having such a tight window of trying I think you need to use all of the tools available to you. You also might not have to set an alarm for 6a.m. I don't set an alarm and I'm still able to get a clear temp shift.

This!  You also dont have to temp at 6am if that is not when you wake up.  You just need 3+ solid hrs of sleep.  If you wake up around 9am then set the alarm for 9am.  In any case, charting your BBT will help.  The last time I got a BFP I had all negative OPK's but I knew I O'd because of my thermal shift.  I recommend temping and googling the sperm meets egg plan.  The 2 combined will help the most since you are working on crunch time.  Good luck!
