Private Cord Blood Banking?

Hi! Is anyone planning do do Private Cord Blood Banking? My hospital does not offer a public options so we are leaning toward this and I was wondering if anyone has heard of or used MAZE? I have been bombarded with ads from ViaCord and CBR and MAZE includes 20 years of banking at the same cost as ViaCord and CBR. They claim it is due to low ad costs but just wondering if people felt that it was important to go with a bigger name?

I am using CBR...never heard of MAZE but that sounds awesome! Would be interested to see if you get more info on it. I already signed up with CBR but good for me to pass along to others!

I believe that we may be donating the cord blood. I would hate for it to go to waste, because we really don't have plans to bank it privately.

Have you read reviews for that company? Maybe also check with the BBB? Otherwise, it just seems like it's a choice between two major companies, and then another company that hasn't had as much exposure.

We're banking for the 3rd time with CBR. We look at it like it is an insurance policy we hope to never use for any of our kids. =/

Yes, I would be interested in public banking but our hospital does not offer this. Also, I work in biotech and have seen such amazing advancements that I really believe the stem cells will be usable to some day although I hope to never have to use them!

I am using Xytex.  I used them for my donor so I am very comfortable with them.  They were about the same amount of money as CBR but I got a huge discount because I was already a client.

We are delaying cord clamping, which has a lot of medical benefits for the baby. Given the slim chance of needing cord blood down the road, it seems more important for her to have the benefits of it at birth.

How did you decide to do that (what swayed you). I have seen so many articles that show both sides that I haven't felt convinced yet but would love to learn more.

They believe the odds will be 1:200 in our kids' lifetime. Yikes.
