Tylenol dosage? 8 weeks

We had shots today and I believe pedi told me the new dosage was 2.5 since they re-formulated it. Seems like a lot. Does that sound right? The old formula dosage was .8 He feels pretty warm, but temp was 98.3. So I guess I won't give it yet.

I was told 1.25ml and was given a chart that says 2.5 for 12-17lbs, 4-11months. I hope your little one feels well.

1.25ml. I give 2.5 to my 26lb toddler.

i wouldn't give it unless he actually has a temp.

How many mg is in 2.5 mls? 80 mg is pretty standard, and was 0.8 mls of the old concentration.

After our LO's 2 month shots, we were also told 2.5.  It was all based on his weight and it did seem like a lot.  My LO was crying an "I'm in pain" cry later on during the day after he got his shots.  He did not have a fever, but I gave him a dose anyway.  I'm sure his little legs were hurting from all 3 shots!  He felt so much better after that and was able to sleep.

1. Don't give it unless there is a real fever. Many babies don't need anything after shots, I think I've only given meds once for a shot between both kids.

2. Call your doctor about dosing. This is an 8 week old, it is based on weight. Our office calculates dosage at every appointment to the ml, so it's perfect for their weight at that time. I wouldn't use a generic dosage on an 8 week old.

Thanks guys! I would never give it to him unless his fever were on the higher end and looked uncomfortable. He is 13lb 9oz, so we qualified for the 2.5 dosage. It just looked like so much with the new formulation. I'm used to the tiny dropper amount with my other boys and didn't want to overdose LO:) Dr. did tell me 2.5, but it just looked like a lot and she was telling me off the top of her head like she was trying to remember the new amounts, so I just wanted to doublecheck.

I agree 100! Our pedi actually says not to give Tylenol before or after unless they develop a fever. But like pp said, anything with an 8 week old should definitely be confirmed by the doctor.
