Invitees vs guests?

I looked back a bit and didn't see this come up at all.  On average, what is the percentage of people invited actually show up to a shower?

 Thanks!

Not sure of the average but at my shower I think it was 50%.  Some people we knew couldn't come and some people were more last minute. I guess a lot of people didn't officially RSVP that did come.

It's hard to say.  I've seen some folks on here having showers on a weeknight, which makes it hard for 9-5 workers to attend.  Ditto if your shower is on a holiday weekend, or if you live up north and get snow and your shower is in the winter, etc.

I think it can be done well, and I would have loved it, but taking all of the crappy parts of school away from a kid isn't good for them in the long run.

There are lessons like "Not everyone likes you" and "Some people are douche bags" that you don't learn without socializing in a large group of poorly supervised children.

I would think it depends on the circle of people. I hosted my SIL's shower over the summer and with 35 people invited:

19 rsvp'd yes

5 rsvp'd no

11 did not rsvp

5 of those who did nto rsvp showed up...

To have 5 people show who did not rsvp was a bit of a surprise - a good surprise but still a surprise!

I don't know if its the same for a shower, but for a wedding, they tell you to expect about 60% (that is the average)...

but like i said, thats for a wedding...

I am hosting my friends shower, and her guest list is about 60 people, but she knows who will not be making it, but they still want an invite (grandparents in different states etc). She also knows a good amount of the people that wouldn't miss it for the world... so we have a pretty good count so far...

just remember, expect the unexpected! Don't be surprised if people show up who either didn't rsvp, or even those who show up who said they wouldn't!

I invited about 80 and had just over 60 come to my shower.  I think on average it is about 2/3 that show up.  I always put an RSVP date and always call those slackers that don't so I know how much food to buy and how many to have seating for.  I have had a couple of people come that were not invited (they came with another invited guest - which of course not proper) but it's not like I'm going to turn them away at the door...KWIM?  I've hosted a lot of showers and if the MTB's know their guests well they will pretty much be able to determine how many will actually make it (barring any sick kids, accidents, etc).

Is this becoming a thing??  I have been invited to showers where I won't know anyone, but doesn't mean I need to bring a friend along to keep me company.  It's disrespectful to the hostess, and a little awkward (I would imagine) to the MTB.  I hope this doesn't happen often.

I've only had this happen twice and I've hosted a lot of showers (both bridal and baby).  Of course I wouldn't know if it happened at showers I've been invited to...although I did hear a couple of "Oh...I didn't know you were coming!  Nice to see you."  so...maybe.

I think it also depends on the size of your shower mine was very small and "nearest/dearest", and almost everyone showed. I've hosted many showers, and for ones with under 30 people, I would say 7580 show up, for larger showers or church showers, maybe more like 5060 show.

Id say im in the 90% or something. We had a few no's but not many. And I just got another cancellation this morning. We had to guarantee a certain number at the place and are about 3 people under that number. We invited about 5 over that number, so not too bad! We also told people by word of mouth the date wayyyy in advance so most people secured the date ahead of time.
