Anyone else passing on father's name?

How many Jr's or more are there out there? FI made it clear from the start that he would like to have "the third" if we have a boy, since he is a Jr. and I said I was perfectly fine with it, which I was.

Since we found out we're having a boy now, he's been on the fence about it and hasn't told me absolutely for sure that he wants "the third." I'll refer to the baby as "Baby V", (his name is Veron), "V the Third," "Baby Veron" "Little V" and all sorts of derivations, but it's just not rolling off the tongue for me. I love the name, but I can't get around the feeling that this baby just might not be a "Veron."

We can't agree on any other boy names anyway, so I'm thinking this is the final decision. I'm hoping it grows on him after he's born. I called my DD "Baby" until she started crawling because she just didn't fit her name until she was showing more of a personality. I'm hoping if we do go with Veron that it will be the same and he just needs time to grow into it.

I'm not looking for other name suggestions or anything, just needed a place to vent a bit. Thanks!

This isn't what you asked, but I don't like the Jr./etc. thing.

If neither of you loves the idea anymore, that's a definite reason to revisit it.  Are there any other V names you like?  Maybe this DS can have the same initials as his father/grandfather instead of the same exact name.  Victor?  Vincent?

Don't completely dismiss passing on Veron but look at some new names with fresh eyes.

I even suggested maybe having Veron as the middle name, but he's hated pretty much every other normal boy name I've come up with. I've given him pages of boy names, some of which I was only "Ok" with (but could still live with), and he's shot down a good 98% of them completely, and the few he didn't, he was just "eh" about. I have to be honest, though, that I haven't liked any of his suggested boy names either. We have totally different tastes and sticking with having The Third may well wind up our best compromise in the end.

I know you didn't ask for suggestions, but what about Vaughn?

Or if your LO will be "the third" you could always call him Trey or Trip as a NN.

Wow. That's some name.

Can you call the baby Trip or Trey- as III he's uniquely entitled to it. I have a friend who's a V- we call him "Five" and his son Six-point-0.

I really don't like Trip or Trey :( I'd rather just call him Veron. My FI has gone by "Buddy" his whole life, but I can't do that to my son, he'll be Veron if we do use it, and not a separate nickname... I don't hate the name, I'm just feeling underwhelmed atm since FI isn't totally confident about the choice to have a "III."

We considered naming a baby boy after FIL so that baby would be "the second".  We've strayed away from that and are considering using H's first name as a middle name for baby.
