50 Shades Baby Boom

The Today Show is talking about how there is a baby boom because of the books...

Who is guilty of being a part of it?

Not me! I can't bring myself to read them, they're a literary connoisseur's nightmare - poorly written and a complete knockoff of Twilight which I can't stand in the first place (James originally wrote 50 Shades as Twilight fan fiction, simply changed the names to publish).  This hilarious review sums it all up pretty well:

I read them but I thought they were terrible.  By the third book I was skipping all of the sex scenes... I really wish I could get that time/money back.

I love to read but can't bring myself to read the super popular, even people who never read, read type books. Harry Potter, Twilight, 50 Shades... never had any interest.

Not here. I read.... more than I should. I don't agree with spending money on something that was originally written as free fan fic online.

That's not to say I won't read it, just that I won't be paying for it. I like to be able to argue against something with all the knowledge I can get, not just the hype.

As a lover of both books and sex, I hated those.

But there was a hilarious post on the 'six weeks board' a while back with many, many girls saying how their baby was conceived after 50s and how they were going to name the baby after the lead character *rolls eyes*

Here:

Sorry, can't make it clicky.

Yup, that's the perfect review.  I did read the first book just to see how it ended.  I tried reading the second book but just couldn't get through it.

I read the books, I did not get pregnant then.

They were poorly written and not that hot.

Of course it is poorly written it was a fan fic. If you read it for what it is and don't expect more, then it is good. I have only read the first book and I adore Christian Grey. LOL. So maybe this is a 50 Shades baby. To make it even better I'm begging they cast Ian Somerhalder!

I'm pretty sure that is how and why we got pg again! haha

Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. Met with a RE in May 2009 and set a plan - but conceived unexpectedly on our own! Our precious little Sophia was born on February 9, 2010! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

I will never understand how someone can "adore" a character like Grey. He's controlling, manipulative and childish. Using your money to practically stalk someone is not okay in my book.

And yes, I realize it was fanfic. I can't even appreciate it for what it is -- poorly written porn.

If you want a good romance series with some seriously hot sex, then check out the Crossfire series by Sylvia Day. "Bared to You" was freaking hot.

I don't want this coming off as rude, but here Igo anyways. Are you normally a reader or do you just read the hyped up books? Just curious. No judgement. I promise.

Well maybe because you haven't read it, lol. There are layers to Christian you have to peel back. You don't have to agree or understand what the facsination is with him. I'll have to check that series out for sure. I really really need to get back to reading often, I miss it.

That was the most horribly written, awkward book I've ever read. I'm no prude either, so that's not the issue.

Blech.

I read them just to see what the fuss was all about and have NO IDEA how these books did anything to help peoples marriages or sex lives, other than, they just made housewives horny and so they gave it up a little more.  The writing was terrible and I wanted to smack the girl at least 100 times per book - that being said, I still read all three...tee hee!
