Hair Pulling

When my little one gets tired she pulls her hair, and occasionally pulls some out. Does anyone else see this?  Any suggestions for ways to stop this?

I don't have any suggestions on how to make her stop.

But, I will tell you that my nephew has always twirled his hair around his finger when he's tired. So bad that it knots up, and some gets pulled out. He's been doing it a lot less lately (he's almost 4), so hoepfully he's just growing out of it.

Maybe just distract her a bit? Just take her hand in yours and rub her hand a little? GL.

My LO did this a lot when he was a bit younger and was basically bald on the top of his head! It all grew back in (blonde instead of brown!) but even now, when he's tired and drinking his bed time bottle, he scratches the side of his head and pulls his hair a bit. Maybe ask your pedi?

Both girls did this. DD2 started in the past month or so, when her hair was long enough to actually pull. I wouldn't say she pulls it out (she likes to pull out DD1's hair), but she pulls on it and twirls it around while she falls asleep. DH said he did it as a child. DD1 does sometime pull out her hair to look at it, but only one strand at a time, not chunks. I know that sometimes it can be a bahavioral thing, but I have only heard of that in adults. For instance, I have a friend who like to pull a hair out and touch the pulp end to her lips. Its totally an anxiety/soothing thing for her. Her hair line is suffering from it. If your LO is just pulling hair out because they lack the coordination to let go at this age before it comes out, I wouldn't worry about it. If they keep doing it when they get older, to the point of creating a bald spot, I would look for anxiety issues.
