Skin issues?

I've been fighting small patches of red, raised skin on my face. They're dry and they sting when I put make-up or moisturizer on.

I'm thinking maybe eczema or something? Anyone have something similar or know what I'm talking about?

Sounds like eczema to me. Mine flared back up during my pregnancy. I wouldn't put any makeup on it, and make sure you wash with something mild and moisturize the area.

Darn, that's what I thought. I have eczema, but it's on the back of my neck (under my hair) so I've never actually seen it, lol. I've heard pregnancy can cause it to crop up in other places. Just wish it wasn't my face!

During my first pregnancy i got a little eczema which I had never had before but this pregnancy its HORRIBLE. It looks so bad. its on my forehead, cheeks, noes basically everwhere but my mouth and eyes. The best thing I have found to treat it is Aveeno Baby Eczema lotion. Since it is safe for newborns there are no concerns about whether its safe for me to use. its the only thing that calms it down. As far as makeup goes, I have worn it to a few very important occasions but the rest of the week it stays so much worse, and the makeup I use is recommended as the best for eczema!  Make sure to use super gentle soap and that lotion I am telling  you works miracles for me.

I've never had bad skin, even in high school, but my first trimester was awful. I even had a pimple on my LIP! I didn't even know this was possible. Late in my first trimester my usual skin seemed to return--especially after I replaced some of my makeup.

This is slightly off topic, but I thought some might appreciate the information: The reason I've thrown out pretty much all the makeup I own over the course of the past few weeks is because I read the labels. There was all kinds of toxic stuff in it known to cause cancers, thyroid problems and reproductive issues -- even the high-end stuff I owned. I replaced everything but a few items after doing some research.

The following nonprofit organization provides a database that will tell you the levels of toxicity and potential threats in your products--and gives each a health rating: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ You just type in the names of your products. (If not listed, you can also type in the ingredients to find out the perceived potential problems or lack of problems.) Hope this is useful to someone else.

I have excema as well; but it doesn't usually bother me. However, since I've been pregnant I've been getting little tiny dry, red, patches on my hands. They aren't really a problem for me. Those of you who are having a problem should discuss it with your doctor. She may be able to prescribe or suggest something to relieve it.

Have you ever tried a vitamin C treatment? A very easy and cheap way to do this at home is to cut a strawberry in half and gently rub the inner halves on your skin. Leave it on until it dries completely, then rinse off with room temp water. Strawberries contain lots of C, plus salicylic acid and alpha hydroxy. This is like a very mild and curative 'mini-peel' that helps all sorts of mild skin issues. I can do this 2-3 times a week and I have ultra sensitive skin. If you aren't sensitive, you could likely do this everyday. Right before bed is the best time, and make sure to drink a full glass of water afterward. Plus, using a drop or two of vitamin E oil on your damp skin will also help restore the cellular health.
