What stores have the best prices on Stage 3 foods?

I can't find stage 3 on sale anywhere.  Everywhere I find them, it is close to $1 a jar.  I know that I can do alot more table foods at this time but I need at least some jars for my MIL who watches lo and for travel & last minute meals.

Have you tried making and freezing some food? Its really easy and cheap. Especially if you pick something you don't need to cook first like bananas or avacado, just mash, scoop into an ice cube tray, cover and freeze.Pop them out like ice cubes and put them in a zip lock. Most ice cubes are one ounce so send enough along.

The prices are pretty consisent from store to store unless you find a sale.  $1 a jar is a good price so I really wouldn't expect it to be much less.  We gave DS Earth's Best and that was maybe $1.35 - $1.65/jar.

My obstacle in the Stage 3 foods were that many places simply did not carry a big selection.  So I ended up finding the most at Babies R Us, Whole Foods and sometimes Target.

I am looking for sales specifically.  The stage 2 I have bought at usually less than $.50 at stop & shop, a&p, and  BRU.  Over $1 is killing me.

I will likely have to make some of my own.

I think that gerber at the grocery stores are like 2/$1.59, or something close to that. I am trying to remember if it was stage 2 or 3. If cost is a concern, I would definitely think about just giving LO portions of what you are eating that they can eat, cut up smaller. Noodles with light butter, or ravioli cut up, or oatmeal, stuff like that you can buy and make slight adjustments to make it baby friendly. DD2's food is cheaper than her formula, so I can't complain too much.

I just use stage 2's when I am in need of purees. There is such a small selection where I live of stage 3's. LO doesn't seem to mind as he is mostly on table foods anyway and sometimes enjoys a smoother consistancy.
