2 week old wide awake after night feeds

OMG I don't know how they do it! I get LO up around 12:30 for a feeding and she's up until 1:30. Back at 5:00 for another feeding and was up until 6:30. What's the deal, man? She has 2-3 wide awake periods like this during the day too. How can I get her back to sleep?

No advice really, but i know how you feel. My boy was 2 weeks old yesterday the night before last, he was awake nursing from 9pm until 4:30 am with only occasional brief 15 to 20 minute nap breaks in between. The lactation consultant said they go through a growth spurt at 2 week s it's totally normal. On the other hand last night he had solid 2 to 3 hour sleep stretches between each feeding. Maybe your little one will balance it out with a sleepy period soon too

My LO is only 9 days old, but she was doing this too.  My pediatrician told me to make nighttime feedings as boring as possible so that she'll go back to sleep.  This means no or low lights, no talking to her, no cooing, no interaction other than feeding and laying back down.  Daytime is for all of that.  It has actually worked for us for the past two nights and we have managed to get some sleep.  Now, if I could just get her to sleep anywhere othe than on my chest!

Eloise is wide awake at night too, I think it just takes time for them to adjust to not being nocturnal. When she's awake in the day I'm making more effort to give her tummy time so maybe she'll be up more in the day, asleep more at night. Last night she tried to nurse for 2 hours, I know she's supposed to have a 10 day growth spurt but that was rough!

This, definitely. I've learned not to speak or make eye contact during night feedings and I put a night light in his room so we don't need to turn on lights. Oh and I know it sucks but your LO sound pretty normal for being 2 weeks. Be patient and consistent, things will straighten out soon!

We do our light on the lowest dimmer setting possible if I'm changing a diaper.  If I'm not, I just leave the lights off.  I don't talk at all, just pull her into bed with me from the cosleeper and nurse her sidelying.  Typically she is back to sleep within 20 minutes that way.  If you turn on lights and make a ton of noise, she's up for an hour or two.

My LO just turned 3 weeks yesterday and we just began this issue last week. We tried making nighttime feedings as boring as possible, but I swear he sleeps better with noise. During the day, I can vacuum right next to him and he won't budge. I really hope he gets on our sleep schedule soon- we're exhausted!

Last night he woke up at 4 and was awake for hours after feeding, I was falling asleep it was so boring but he was as awake and alert as can be.  It made for a really long night.

Yep, we went through this too around that age. We got a nightlight and didn't make noise or much eye contact during feedings. If you can keep your LO awake longer during the day, that seems to help too.

LO didn't get her days and nights completely straightened out until she was around 3 or 4 weeks old.  She'd wake up around 3am and be wide awake until 6 or 7am.  It was exhausting and nothing I did seemed to help.  She eventually fixed it on her own.  Like others said, keep things super loud and bright during the day and really quiet and dark at night.  Play music, talk aloud, read aloud, vacuum, etc.  Also, get LO outside for a few minutes during the day as it helps to reset their circadian rhythm.
