bottles

I'm pretty overwhelmed with the options for products out there.

I plan on taking a year off of work and I plan to breastfeed for as much of that year as possible- or whatever works at the time! (I am not dead set on breastfeeding but I will try my darndest).

 I also plan to buy a pump so I can freeze and store and let my hubby feed baby or grandparents, or even so I can take some time away whether it be an afternoon or a weekend.

So assuming I will go partial breast and partial bottle (or plan to), do most babies go easily from breast to bottle and back? If so, what kind of bottles should I plan on getting? I've been told I should have a few kinds on hand to start. I plan to invest in a good pump, no matter what the cost is. So can all types of bottles adapt?

I have heard good things about Medela bottles and Dr. Browns. I am not overly concerned about cost because I am saving money buying things used and this is something I feel is important so will pay good money for a good solid product. I need something available in Canada but I go to the USA frequently for better prices too. Here, Avent and Nuk bottles seem to be pretty popular on the shelves. I'd also like something BPA free obviously and as organic/natural as possible.

Thoughts?!

My DD had no issues going from breast to bottle and back again, but some babies do, just depends on the baby. We have a Medela pump and it came with some bottle to pump into. We used those for a while but they caused our DD to swallow to much air. We have also tried the Avent bottles and had the same issue. We now use Dr Browns and love them. It is really just trial and error.

DS was FF from birth so I can't speak to the breast to bottle stuff.

But we had Avent, Born Free and Dr. Browns on hand when he was born.  We tried them all and he was happiest with Dr. Browns so that's what we used.  The others made him really, really gassy.

My kiddos did not go back and forth from breast to bottle easily. Once they were around 2 months, they completely refused a bottle. I would recommend offering a bottle at least once a day. My LC recommends breastflow bottles.

My LO is almost 2weeks and I will introduce a bottle (I breastfeed) at 6 weeks. I will use these closer to nature bottles as they resemble the breast the most... My sister has them and loves them!
