Should I POAS and get it over with?

We are not really TTC, but we are not preventing, but I have been following my cycles and this month everything was timed really well. Since O I have not been drinking, just in case. Since O:

  • Nipples have been sore, more than the usual couple of days I get every cycle
  • Bbs seem larger and firmer (not much, but I am small to start with :P)
  • I have been having little muscle twinges, like mini charle-horses, in my lower abdomen when I move suddenly.
  • I have had some CRAZY, like almost hallucination-ish dreams

AF should be coming today or tomorrow. This morning I had bad lower back pain that usually signals AF, so I brought a pile of tampons to work. I have been to the bathroom four times this morning, but no sign of her. Instead, lots of CF, which I never have at this part of my cycle.

I promised myself that I would not POAS until AF is actually late, but I am going crazy here! Is it possible? Are we preggo?

I for one think you have tons of growing up to do if you can't be bothered to make the decision to test on your own. Instead, you make your very first post... This.

It is possible; however, only a test can confirm that for you. If you are having symptoms and your period is truly due (meaning you've confirmed this by temping and you know your O date and typical LP) then you will get a positive test if you are pregnant.

FYI, these types of posts never go over well here, especially as an intro. Those can be PMS symptoms OR pregnancy symptoms. We can't tell you any more than a pregnancy test can. If you are stressing about whether you're pregnant, just POAS. Worst case, you see a BFN. Then you either wait a couple days more to test again or for AF to show. Simple as that.

Just POAS. None of us can tell if you are pregnant. Of course it's possible if you've been having unprotected sex.  Even a middle schooler knows that!

Wow, sorry everyone, I really did not expect to get such a nasty response. Yes, I am new, and as someone who is new to this process, that was my question. Of course I can make my own decisions, I was just looking for some support from people who have been through the same thing, especially since at this point in the process I have not told any of my "off-line" friends or family. guess this was the wrong place to look :(

You should lurk and read other people's posts like this.  This is the standard response as we cannot see into your ute over the internet.

Go for it...if it is negative, you can always retest if your period ends up being late. Sometimes you just have to pee on a stick and get it off your mind lol

Good luck

You asked a bunch of internet strangers if you were "preggo." I'm not sure what kind of answers you thought you'd get. Did you really think we all say, "Yes it totally sounds like you are. Go start that BRU registry."

Hahah OK, OK, I get the message. I suppose I should clarify that my question is not "am I pregnant" because if I thought you could answer that then there would be no need for the stick in question.

My question is - in the emotional roller coaster, do you find it easier to test early and risk an incorrect BFN, or just wait it out (with anticipation building) till you are sure that the test will give you a true answer (either pos or neg).

and please, if you have nothing nice to say, just say nothing. That way I don't cry :)

And for fuuuuck's sake, if shiit people say to you on the internet make you cry - maybe you need to go anyway.

If I missed this in your OP I'm sorry, but do you know how many days post ovulation you are? It may not be too early to test.

Sorry hun but you're on the internet.  People can post what and where they please.  You'll just need to hike up your big girl panties if you get responses you don't like.  As for me, I don't test till I'm at least 1 day past my longest historical cycle and if that same cycle I know I had good timing.

If you're far enough along to have symptoms then you should be far enough along to have a positive test.  This is my first cycle trying too and I'm finding it really hard to not test too early too.  Good luck!

Everyone is different and some people's opinion on this varies from cycle to cycle. Which will cause you more stress and disappointment right now- a BFN or waiting it out? Go with the option that will be easiest for you and only you can decide which that is.
Personally, when we hadn't been trying very long I just wanted to test and know so I could start planning for the next cycle. Now I've recognized that knowing early one way or another doesn't do anything for me as it won't speed up time until we can try again.
And as for your last sentence, its really best if you don't try to tell people how to post. Its a public form, and just like IRL you're going to get some responses you don't like. Roll with it and move on. But if an internet message board is going to make you cry I think you need to re-evaluate if you should be posting on one.

I temp so that I know my O date and I also know about when to expect my period. This month I decided not to test because quite frankly I can't stand staring at stark white negative tests just willing a line to appear. So I decided I would not test unless I didn't get my period on time. Lo and behold, my temps started dropping two days ago and my period showed up today.

OP, I really do hope this is it for you but the only way to know is to wait out your period or test.

Personally, I like to pretend that it's easier to wait it out, but I always end up testing early. This is why internet cheapies are good - you won't break the bank and you don't drive yourself crazy trying to wait. Check out Wondfo tests on Amazon if you haven't already.

ETA: And yes 100% to temping - you will avoid the whole "am I late?" question to yourself in the future if this cycle isn't it.

I didn't respond to the initial post for the reasons people probably mentioned already and I didn't read their responses because I knew what they'd be. But this question is one I'm personally willing to answer.

For me, I kind of like POAS. I've only been pregnant once and I tested early that time because I had to for circumstance reasons, so I've never had a false negative. The bigger problem is just that you feel dumb when you test early and waste a test because AF comes shortly thereafter. But the upside in my mind is that you're at least warned that AF is very likely coming. I hate AF so I sort of like the warning.
