Braxton Hicks VS. Big Movements

So just wondering.....I'm 29 weeks and have heard a lot of talk about Braxton Hicks at this point. I don't think I have had any yet however my lil' peanut has been very active and making much bigger/stronger movements lately....which I would assume is to be expected as he gets bigger and stronger. There have been a few times in the last 2-3 days where there are these huge movements right under my navel and I'm wondering if I could be mistaking BH for just huge baby movements? I tend to think I would definitely know the difference but I'm just not sure. I've hear the whole belly tightens when it is BH...is that true?!

Yes, it will feel like your whole belly is tightening with BH.  Also, a BH will typically last longer than like a big movement or the baby pushing out or something, which also tends to be more localized.  It is kind of a similar feeling though, IME.  I can tell the difference, but only because I've had both.  I can see how you might wonder which is which.

FWIW, I didn't notice any BH with my last pregnancy, but have with this pregnancy.

I didn't know they were BH until I was hooked up to the monitor.  I would see a contraction on the paper and realized what I thought was just the baby pressing on one side was actually a BH.  For me, my whole belly doesn't tighten or at least not usually, instead I feel pressure on one side or the other that spreads to a crampy feeling near my pelvis.  Now that I know what they are I feel them all the time!
