Give it to me straight

I'm not KU now, but eventually we'll have more kids and maybe one will be a girl. The proposed name:

Charlotte Shea

Charlotte has been my favorite name since forever and I'm sad that its getting popular, but I'll use it anyway. Shea (pronounced Shh-A) is my maiden name. Thoughts?

The repetitive "sh" sound is a bit of a stumbling block for me but it's your maiden name and in the middle name spot so I think it's fine. I love Charlotte but am too afraid of Charlie as a nickname to use it!

I don't think Charlotte is overly huge in popularity now, so if you love it, I say go with it! Personally I like Shea (both as the name by itself, and I'm a fan of family names). As long as you don't mind the "Sh" "Sh" sound at the beginning of both names, go for it! My parents intentionally went for the same sounds for the first and middle names for all of us (sister is "L", middle sister is "K", and I'm "A").

I like both names, so I would go for it if you love it.  I might not put them together just because they are such different styles, but Shea is simple enough so I think you can get away with it.

Conceived after 1.5 yrs. Thank you, modern medicine! BabyFruit Ticker

I've only ever heard Shea pronounced Shay but obviously as your maiden name you know how to correct that. The combo is okay and I give a pass to family names.

I agree with this. I like using maiden names as middle names though so it would work. And my niece gets called "Charly" all the time as a nickname (prounounced sharly) so "sharly shea" is a mouthful.

Charlotte is NMS. I've heard Shae as a NN to Shannon. Overall just NMS, but I do like why you're using the MN so go for it!

I think the way she typed it, Sh-A, and Shay would be pronounced the same, she probably just didn't think about it that way.  Unless it's supposed to be Sh-Ah with an a sound like "apple."

OP, either way it doesn't change my stance.

Deal breaker for me. Charlotte is my favorite girl name of all time and one of my favorite aunts. Unfortunately, my last name is a seriously anglo 2 syllable names that also starts with an "sh". Too sing songy. And I had fears of a child with a lisp and all those sssss.

Maybe it's different in the middle spot.

I agree with PP's. The double "Shh" sound slightly confuses me. But they're both nice names, and they are all right together.

I like that you would give her your maiden name, but I don't really like the two Shh sounds together like that.

I think it's fine.  I don't love the name Shea, but I love the meaning it has to you.  I know an Evelyn Ellen and for me that's far trippier on the tongue than Charlotte Shea.
