Ovulation Testing

What are your guys' opinions on the ovulation kits?  Worth the $$ or a waste?

I haven't had regular periods since my daughter was born, so I don't have any idea when or if I am ovulating regularly...trying to watch out for other signs, but am thinking about purchasing an ovulation kit.

The Wondfo OPKs are less expensive. I've personally never gotten a postive, and I am being monitored by an RE, so there isn't much need for me. I know a lot of ladies use them though. Do you chart your temp?

I think they're worth the money.  I see how they could get expensive if you had to use them over a long period of time, though.  I bought a big box off Amazon of wondfo's.  I had enough for five cycles (testing twice a day, 7-10 days each cycle).

I have Wondfo's been using them for 3 months/3 cycles I got a huge mixed set of OPK's and pregnancy tests. I still have like half a bag left and I only spent about $15-$20.

You can buy a BBT at Walmart, Target, CVS....They aren't too expensive either. Using OPKs would help, but temping is best for helping you figure out what is going on with your cycle.

I think temping and OPKs are both really useful.  Opk's can help with timing, and can help FF determine your ovulation date when your temp rise isn't completely clear.

OPKs aren't for everyone, but I do think they can be incredibly helpful.

I personally had terrible luck with regular OPKs. I tried for three months and never got a resounding positive. I moved on to the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor and it's worked really well for me/us. But it definitely varies by person.

I have good luck with OPK's, I get a nice clear fade into positive, fade out pattern.  I just buy the ones from walmart (Answer? I think they're called) there's twenty plus a pregnancy test in the box for like $20.  I only use one a day.  Also when I was trying with me son (which took 12 cycles) I could predict my period because it always came 12 days after my positive test.  This is the first cycle I've used  them this time around--my second cycle ( I had the flu last month), but I am fading into positive and will likely get a positive tomorrow.

They've been worth it for me! I get cheap test strips online. My cycles took a while to regulate after stopping birth control and the OPKs were a good way to see what my body was doing - wether or not it was gearing up to O and failing or just not gearing up to O until much later. Without them, I would have been at a loss as to timing when my cycles were running 61 days, 44 days, 37 days, etc. I also temp to confirm to O after a +OPK.

last month I didn't buy any internet strips.  But I did buy the first response pack of 9 for $40, just to try them, at least once.

Anyway they worked wonderfully, matched up with my temps and ovulation dip.  So now that I am convinced, I'll definitely continue to use them

That you ladies for your input!  I appreciate it.  My husband went out and bought the First Response Ovulation kit last night just to try it first.  I plan to buy a cheaper brand later depending how things play out this cycle.  I had no idea when I'd ovulate and didn't think I was going to for another 12 days or so.  I started having other ovulation symptoms and tested and got a pos the first one!  So happy I don't have to wait another 2 weeks to ovulate....and I'm glad I spent the $$.  Def don't think I could spend that $$ every month tho!  (And hopefully won't have to)  Glad I have a cheapy brand to fall back on though from your recommendations.

Thanks y'all!  TTC tests your patience!  Normally I consider myself a patient person, but geez...  I wish I could have the "it'll happen when it'll happen" mentality.

Well, I think they're worth the money if you want to know when your LH surges are occurring.

Yes, a Basal Body Thermometer.  If you go for the Mabis brand sold at Wal-Mart, they're only about $8.
