kmpls:Not a fan. How about Grady or Grier?
This.
Grayer sounds like you are saying "more gray" but grammatically incorrect.
No, I don't know anyone with the name Grayer. Is it a real name?
I do love the name Grayson. I don't care how popular it is. :)

Grier was on our list! Love it.
Rushmore:It's nms, but I do prefer the pronunciation, and spelling, of Grair over Grayer. I would not spell it Grayer. To me, that name has two syllables, whereas Grair has one.
I'm in this camp.
This. Not to be rude, but when I saw it, I though 'would he be one of the 50 shades'?
Gray
Grayer
I don't think it's good.
BlueRidge8:Gray Grayer I don't think it's good.
Not a fan of Grayer, and I think it would definitely be pronounced Gray-er by just about everyone until you correct them.
Grayson is also bad. Good choice staying away from that.
Grier is a great idea though!
There's a reason why authors use unusual names for their characters. It's because NO ONE has it in real life. Grayer falls into that category.. it's not a good choice for an adult.
Put yourself in your child's shoes.. would YOU like Grayer as your first name?
plunderb:I don't think it helps that the point of this name in the Nanny Diaries was that it was the most pretentious name the author could imagine.
Thank you, plunder.
There is a REASON that name was chosen. Please don't use it. You've missed the point of the name entirely.

This. After look at it again I thougt maybe it is a 50 shades of gray baby
Exactly. The name wasn't supposed to reflect anything endearing about the boy. It was supposed to reflect the tastes of his superficial, pretentious parents. In the author's mind, Grayer was the most obnoxious name she could imagine some Upper East Side snobs would come up with.
My first thought: Gray-er than what?
It also doesn't really matter how YOU pronounce it. If everyone else pronounces it gray-er that's what your kid will be dealing with...
