Cake

What kind if cakes (color and how they were decorated) have you seen at baby showers or will have/ had at your own. I am trying to decide what I want my baby shower cake to look like.

That's the problem. My mom is hosting but has been including me in decision making and the bakers of the cake are friends of mine.

Make it look like a diaper cake, but it's really an edible cake. Then, make sure all the "diapers" are filled with different melted chocolates and have the guests figure out which flavor of baby doodie their slice of cake has.

This way, you'll have a cake AND a game. It's a win-win shituation. Cool

My shower cake was a two tiered round cake. Bottom was pink, top was purple. The topper was two peas in a pod because that was my shower theme.

I had whats called a pull apart cake. It's made up of cupcakes but is frosted/decorated like a regular cake. I thought that would be best and the least messy. The cupcakes were really good and we didn't have to cut anything. GL!

ETA: I should note that my mom threw the shower and asked me what I wanted. I made the suggestion and she thought it was a good idea too so we went with it.

PPffff AHAHAAHA! I would totally have a cake like that. I loathe baby showers. Then my grandma and her friends would leave/not talk to me. I don't think there is anything wrong with you picking the flavor and color of your cake. Maybe the colors you are doing the shower or nursery in. But then maybe leaving the design to whoever is ordering it so it's at least a little bit of a surprise.

But seriously, if you aren't sure, just take in a copy of your invitation into the baker. Let them go from there.

My mom ordered an assortment of gourmet cupcakes for my shower. I LOVE cupcakes and wanted to have them at my wedding i/o a cake but DH overruled me :)

Some of the ones I've seen have had something to do with the "theme" of the shower (if there is one).  Like:  boys and boats, Noah's Ark, Monkey theme or sometimes a theme of the nursery.  Just google baby shower cakes.  then pick whatever is your favorite flavor.

If she is asking for your input then go with your favorite kind of cake!  Cupcakes are usually the easiest to serve.
