OB cancelled appt - wwyd

My csection is scheduled for next Wednesday, so the end is near! Tomorrow I was supposed to go in for my last appointment before I go in (unless I go into labor that is) but the office called to say she has the flu and needed to reschedule all appointments. Earliest they could get me in is Monday afternoon.

I was hoping to get in tomorrow because ever since my last appointment (a week ago yesterday) I have been having very mild period like cramps, diarrhea, a lot of discharge, and some pressure in my hips. I went from feeling 100% fine when I was pregnant with DD to having my water break, to having contractions all in one day... so I'm not sure if this is just early labor or basic discomforts.

I was hoping to make it to tomorrow and just get checked out. I just hate to go in for nothing...

So WWYD.... Should I call and tell them or wait it out until monday and see how it goes?

Thanks!

Your symptoms all sound pretty normal to me, nothing's setting off alarm bells.  Play it by ear, if you get the spidey sense that you need to be seen ASAP call them over the weekend, otherwise make sure your bag is packed and try to relax these last few days of your pregnancy, good luck!!!

Do they have another OB/midwife/nurse practitioner that you'd be able to see in lieu of your doctor? If you really want to be seen, I would call and request to see one of the aforementioned staff members, but I'm not sure what they are "allowed" to do, or what exactly you're looking for. If you want an internal, you'd just have to ask them who is authorized to do that. Otherwise, everything sounds like normal end-of-the-road pregnancy stuff to me.

You could at least call the nurse line and see what they say.

I'd probably just wait it out unless someting major happens.  If you are in labor, they'll just tell you to go to the hospital anyway.  So might as well wait at home.  Honestly, I'm just getting annoyed at all these last appointments.  They really mean nothing (as long as your BP is ok, not high risk, etc).  My doc's guess as to when my LO will be born is just as good as mine Wink

This.  My office has one OB but several RNPs so even if my OB were out someone else could still see me.  I'd probably want to be seen at your stage.  For me, my stage, sure i'd wait an extra half week, but at your stage, I don't think I would be willing to if there were other options.

I asked if there was anyone else available and they are booked solid. I see 4 OBs in a group that are located in the hospital. A few weeks ago another practice in the hospital up and left, huge drama with competing hospitals, so I think mine has been overwhelmed with people trying to find a new practice.

I was 2 cen at my last appointment and I've been uncomfortable ever since... Just concerned me a little but I just keep waiting for some MORE to happen ya know? But I don't want to be the dummy who waited and waited and here I'm in labor! Haha!

I would go into L and D if you start having contraction that are 5 minutes apart, lasting one min, leaking fluid, or bleeding. If you are in labor they will have a back up who can do your c-section. Other than that I think you are fine to skip your appt. There isn't much of a choice unfortunately if no one in the practice can see you, and your doc is ill. Good luck and congrats on reaching the end!

I agree.  I'm not sure what being seen would really do anyway.  If you're in labor and need a RCS then they'll do it when you arrive at the hospital.  If you're not in labor they shouldn't do a RCS any earlier than 39 weeks anyway (barring any additional complications of course) so it's not like they're going to move it up even if your body is making progress (which still can't tell you whether you'll go into labor before your C/S date). TBH I would be glad I don't have to go to an appointment this week!

Unless you're getting a csection for a specific reason and they don't want you to go into labor on your own I wouldn't bother going in.
