AFP levels?

Has anyone ever had elevated AFP blood levels and been told its because your placenta might be to small?? I have never heard of such a thing, but was told by my doctor that this is my current situation. Could lead to early labor, but thats all they are telling me. I am worried there may be other issues along the way! Any tips would be great!!!

Did they do a full anatomy scan?  Did you talk with a genetic counselor?

Yes we had two full scans done and talked to a Genetics Doctor, but there was no talk of neural tube defects. They ruled out spina bifida which I guess was their only concern and than they told me I could go into early labor and have to go for ultrasounds every 4 weeks to make sure he is growing fast enough. I am 5 months along now and he is growing great so I am not sure if I should be worried or not.
