Thank you friend, vent...

I know I shouldn't be petty, but I need to vent so annoymously on the internet seems the way to go :)

A friend text me and ask if I wanted to hang out with all the kids for the last day of winter break a couple days ago. I said sure and we did. She told me she had a horrible time recently with her whole family getting an awful case of stomach flu. I assumed that they were over it. The next day almost my whole family has the stomach flu. It was giving me awful horrible contractions, which just compounded the crappy situation. I thought to myself, dang we got it from my friend. Then I thought in all fairness it could have came from anywhere, and whatever it is fine.

Then tonight she post on FB that she took her daughter into the doc today because she will not stop throwing up, and has been for a week and a half. Then list a laundry list of other illness and infections she has. We still could have gotten it from someone else if it was going around, but why would she invite us to hang out if her daughter is actively still puking, I had no idea!

Ok vent over, sort of a bloggy post, but I am sure someone can commiserate. I will get over it, just had to let off some steam to somebody;)

Eta: add to that we met at a public place for the kids to play, so yeah I am sure if she was contagious there is a lot of other pukey little souls out there, oh vey!

Ugh.  So sorry sister.  I always try to warn peeps if me or DD are/have been sick & let it be their call to get together or not.  If her kiddo was still puking all that time she KNEW and that's so not cool.

Hope you feel better soon.

How annoying. Sorry she got your family sick.  It's stupid people like this that cause the flu epidemic-they can't stay home when they're sick and get everyone else sick.

Oh, how rude!  A lingering cold/cough is one thing, but I draw the line at puking.

I'm sorry your friend sucks.

Yeah, that really sucks. I would also be super annoyed.

My daughter has had a cold since before Christmas and today I brought her around people for the first time. She hasn't been contagious for a long time but I was still paranoid that I would give someone else a runny nose.

I totally get it, and I am so sorry you guys got sick. My cousin did this to us 2 years ago while we were back home visiting family (a 27 hour drive one way). She told my dad that she wanted to see us, and that her kids had been sick but were feeling better, so we should come over. I didnt want to because I had my youngest who was under a year, and we were driving home in 3 days, I didnt want to risk getting sick. Well, she talked to my dad and convinced him and my mom that we just HAD to come over, we did. When we got there her oldest told me that her brother, who was my oldest's age, had still been sick that morning.Great. Fast forward to 2 days later and my oldest is puking everywhere. Then we leave to go home the next day and my little guy and I are puking the whole ride home. DH drove the whole way and only stopped for gas/food because he was trying to get us home so we would be comfortable (he had to get home on time for work, he was out of vacation time). DH escaped being sick because he had gotten his flu vaccine.

Worst trip of my life, and now I kind of avoid her and her family when I get home to visit, her kids are always sick with something and I really dont want to catch anything again.

I completely feel your pain on this. For Christmas my FIL invited us over to his mother's for a Christmas dinner with the rest of the family. We agreed to go, and when we get there SIL tells us that her son has been sick for the last few days, but that the puking seemed to be over. We ask why he would even be there if he was still sick (Grandma is old and no one wants her to get sick... and I don't want to get it), and MIL chimes in "Well we don't want him to miss out on the presents!". I give my hubby the side-eye to tell him that I no longer want to be there, and he just tells me to play nice (SIL/MIL and I have had our differences). Anyways, my nephew throws up 5 times over the course of the evening, coughs everywhere, wipes his nose on his hands and then on the furniture, and wants to feel our baby kicking (SIL is also pregnant and has noticeable kicks). 3 days later I am deathly sick with the worst diarrhea and vomiting I have had in years and had to go to the hospital because my fever hit 102. When MIL finds out she says "It must be because you were so worn down from your trip" (We just moved 3 provinces over). I don't know, MAYBE it's from my sickly nephew who should have been at home resting! People just don't care to think about anyone but themselves when it comes to common sense and being sick.

These are my thoughts exactly!  I wish people would understand that if they are sick, they need to consider everyone else that isn't!  So sorry for your family, hopefully you all recover quickly!

Not a very nice friend imo... I've been warning all my friends that my DH is sick with possible flu and to stay away from me b/c I may be carrying it. It's just freaking common courtesy...

The flu is really scary this year too. She should have known better. That isn't fair to her kids to be out stressing their systems while they are sick nor anyone else. Even if you didn't get it from her family, she is very irresponsible. I saw on the news they are now recommending that children who have been sick not go to school an entire 3 days after they have had symptoms because they are still contagious. Though that isn't very realistic for many families, it makes sense that these things spread like wild fire.

I made up an excuse to miss a birthday party last month because I knew the kids had the stomach bug a few days before it and were probably still contagious. Sure enough, the next day both of the parents had it, too. NO THANKS!

She sucks. It's one thing if you don't know you're carrying the bug yet, but quite another to hang out with people when you don't HAVE to hang out. I'm sick too and I'm pretty sure I got it from one of my husband's family members at their after Christmas party.

No, I think it was a really crappy thing for your friend to do, especially because you are pregnant. Getting a flu at this stage would likely make you dehydrated and increases your risk of an early labor. I agree with PP statement about the flu epidemic! I hate that sick people know when they or their children are sick, but continue to expose us to their illness. It makes me afraid to go to grocery stores, not to mention take public transit! Boo to your friend.

Your friend sounds like my SO's idiotic sister. I swear, she's been doing everything in this pregnancy to piss me off, from smoking inside (which she had never done before) while I'm there to coming to a gathering with her Influenza ridden husband.
