Flu?

I didn't get te flu shot while pregnant.  My daughter is 3 weeks old and I am nervous about everything I am hearing about the flu being out there.  What are you all doing for your babies to keep them safe?

I got the flu shot while pregnant to protect DS until he was old enough to get the flu shot himself. All you can do is keep her home and away from sick people. And wash your hands frequently.

I got the shot the day he was born. We try not to bring him out lately unless it's necessary. Lots of hand sanitizer and Lysol happening in our household.

Edited for spelling error.

I got the flu shot when I was pregnant and unfortunately both DD2 and I still got the flu a few weeks ago.  Luckily, because I was breastfeeding, DD2 did not get very sick, just a bit on congestion.  I'm sooooooo thankful.

Good for you! This makes me hopeful. My older child and I have been sick all week with the flu. I'm EBF. So far the baby hasn't even gotten a sniffle. I'm praying my milk keeps her safe. She's only 2 weeks old :

You and your husband can still get the shot. That will at least provide some protection in that YOU are less likely to get sick and spread the virus to the baby. They are saying that this year's shot is just 60 to 70% effective (they always have to guess which flu strains will be circulating), but that's certainly better than nothing. Also, even if you get the flu after getting the shot, you probably will have a less severe case.

All of this I got the shot while pregnant. I never hesitated. We are also limiting his and our contact with others. We use hand sanitizer/wash our hands when we get home, before we get in the car from the store, etc.

I had the shot while pregnant and also got the flu. I washed my hands like crazy and wore a face mask around LO. Maybe the face mask sounds overboard but as far as I'm concerned I could never be too careful.

I got the flu shot while I was pregnant. Our DD is 6 weeks old and she's only been out of the house twice and both times was for the doctor. We've limited the number of people that can come over and everyone HAS to wash their hands as soon as they come into our house! We wash our hands & sanitize constantly. So far so good & I'm keeping my fingers crossed we don't catch it!

We don't leave the house too much. And when we do my LO doesn't leave his car seat unless he needs to be feed.

I make sure when my oldest gets home from DC I wash his hands & change his clothes & don't let him touch his brothers face.

Good post. I have been so worried of the same thing. I am not BF so it makes me even more worried. My husband and I both got the flu shots right after LO was born. And I am popping echinacea left and right. I am going to keep it as indoors as possible and nobody is coming near her without sanitizing. The flu is everywhere!! Is it always this bad?!
