Hello All... New to the Infertility board

Hello All.

I'm 29 years old and my husband and I are having trouble TTC. I got pregnant in September and had a miscarriage the middle of October. I am seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist and have had several tests done. I had an HSG test that showed everything to be clear and I've also had a lot of blood work done that has pretty much shown that I have PCOS. My husband has also had 2 SA tests done that have not shown good results. Everything for him in the SA is well below the normal levels and the morphology shows no regular sperm. His results have surprised the RE because I was able to get pregnant and she wants him to do a 3rd SA.

I go back to see the RE the beginning of March. Does anyone have any similar issues and if so what have you been doing to work with it?

Thanks!

Forgot to add that I was given the MMR vaccine on 1/4/13 because apparently I don't hold immunity to the vaccine very long. And the RE said I shouldn't get pregnant for 30 days which puts another hold on the whole process.

We are dealing with male infertility and will be starting with IUI in Feb/March with donor sperm. Make sure the RE goes through all the results with you and ask lots of questions! Good luck and I hope you get good answers then.

Me- Ok as 1/13 DH- Azoospermia diagnosis 1st Donor IUI planned for July

Hello,

We have MFI (see siggy) and we went straight to IVF/ICSI because our RE thought IUI would be a waste of time and money. I was worried IVF was too aggressive, but it was obvious after our fert report we needed IVF.

 Good luck!

Welcome to the board.  We're MFI too.  That is weird that you were able to get pregnant but his samples came back so abnormal.  Were the first two SA's close together?  Maybe something was just out of whack 3 months ago and it'll clear up with a new 'batch'?

TTC since August 2010
DH diagnosed with Azoospermia in January 2012
Vas reconstruction surgery in April 2012; unsuccessful
IVF with ICSI February 2013; single blastocyst 5dt
First beta March 1 is 147!!!

Welcome! I believe there's an MFI weekly check-in, definitely keep an eye out for that. I can't remember who runs it. Good luck, I hope your stay is a short one!

Welcome! We are also MFI (1million/motility I can't remember/morph 5%) and my RE just told me that with these numbers IVF/ICSI is the way to go. We theoretically have around 5% chance of conceiving on our own, but that's just statistics. It could happen on its own tomorrow or after ten years, so your first pregnancy was in itself no medical impossibility but you're more likely to get pregnant with IVF. Good luck!

Thanks all! I hope everyone else has more luck than we have so far.

To answer someone's questions, the 2 SA's were not close together. One was in August before we got pregnant and the other was just January 7th. When we got the results we were told to schedule him for another test in 2 weeks. He's been doing some research and he's going to ask the RE to recommend a Testosterone level test too, when we go back to see her in March.

Until then, we press on!
