sex with sick husband?

At my OB visit this last week I was 0 dilated and only 50% effaced.  OB strongly recommended that I go home and have lots of sex lol.  She said clearly the amount of walking I'm doing is not helping much, so sex is the best thing at this point to start ripening my cervix.  (I can't be induced, so it's natural methods only.)  I've worked the last few nights but had the intention of attacking DH tonight and a few times this weekend, but he just called from work saying that he is feeling sick.  He's been on and off feeling cruddy all week, but about the time I get him talked into seeing a doctor he says he feels better.  I really don't want to get sick, but I've been kissing him normally all week anyway, so I'm seriously debating just going for it tonight anyway since I've probably already been exposed to whatever he has.  What do you ladies think?  Sex or no sex?

FI and I rarely kiss at all when we have sex, so I say go for it. There are other things to kiss other than lips ;)

I would say go ahead...just avoid direct kissing.  Try to stay with positions that keep some space between you guys so he isn't breathing in your face either :)

Have fun!

Doggie style?

Just out of curiosity, why can't you be induced?

Thanks ladies.  I figured as much, but sometimes between my exhaustion and irrational pregnancy brain I can't decide if I'm thinking clearly lol.  :)  Hopefully we can muster up the energy.

I can't be induced because I'm hoping to VBAC, so the risks associated with a pitocin induction aren't worth it for me.  So it's either natural labor process or another c-section for me-therefore the plan for sex with a sick husband at (almost) 40 weeks pregnant lol! :)

lurking, but just an idea. What if it does work and you go into labor. Then your husband is going to be sick and probably exhausted throughout your whole labor. And if it's something serious then it could be given to your baby. Obviously those are extreme circumstances lol, but just throwing it out there. It would suck if your support person during labor wasn't able to give you the support you need/deserve.

ETA: and before anyone says anything, I know you won't go into labor if your body isn't ready. I just don't know if I'd risk it.

this. Or if your dh is showing symptoms they might not let him on the L&D floor. That's the policy at our hospital.

It sounds like your husband has an aversion to going to the doctor.....mine is the same way.  I swear by zycam.  Have him start taking that....it helps every time with me (prior to being pregnant).  Also, don't worry too much about you getting sick....if it is going to happen, it is going to happen.  You've already been exposed to whatever he has, if he has anything because most of the time, you are the most contagious when you don't even feel like you're sick yet.  Anyway, make him take zycam...it will help cut down whatever he has.  Don't you take it though!

Oh, and, sex. :o)
