Losing weight...worried

I am 11 weeks. At the begining of the pregnancy I gained about 5 lbs (233), but lately I keep going down I am now at 224. I do throw up but its almost every other day only once though. I eat and sleep lol. I do move around but I barely have any energy anymore. I am a little worried about this. Any thoughts?

I lost about 10 pounds in the first trimester of both pregnancies without having any morning sickness with either one of them. As long as you are eating healthy and staying hydrated, it's ok to lose weight. Trust me, you will gain it back later on in the pregnancy.

In my first pregnancy (about the same weight as you are) I lost enough weight in my 1st trimester that even with a growing baby in there, it took me until week 24 to hit "even" to my original starting weight. I was not sick, just had big time food aversions and the stuff I craved ended up being healthy stuff (fruit, etc)

It was fantastic, as I managed to only put on 16 lbs total and when I gave birth I weighed myself a week after and actually LOST weight from the pregnancy, I was 10 lbs less than my weight the day I got pregnant.

I always tell people pregnancy was the best diet I ever had! HA! Who knew?

I am 10 weeks, and still 10lbs less than I was when I got pregnant. I started out with severe food aversion and nausea, and lost a bunch of weight around 5-6 weeks. Since then, I haven't really been eating much until very recently, so when I went to the doctor on Wed. I found that I had not yet gained back any of the weight I'd lost. My doctor was not at all concerned.

It's pretty normal to lose weight in the first tri, even if your morning sickness isn't bad. Food aversions can be pretty strong and keep you from eating, and your body is doing A LOT of work making the placenta and everything (which is also why we're so fatigued). One of my pregnancy books said that right now, your body is working harder just laying on the couch than the body of a runner during a marathon.

Last pregnancy I didn't gain weight for a long time.  When I asked the doctor about it she said that for some people pregnancy kicks your metabolism into gear, so I was losing my own weight at the same rate that I was gaining baby weight.  The bonus for me was that my metabolism stayed better after I had my daughter.  As long as you're eating well, don't worry about the scale unless your doctor is concerned.

I am happy to see these posts I was having the same worries.  I have lost about 5 lbs. but haven't been nauseous or had m/s.  I am just not that hungry.  I don't mind losing the weight, as long as the baby is growing well.

I did find some sites that talked about obese/overweight woman, which I am, and it said that overweight women can actually lose weight their entire pregnancy or gain very little because you have changed your eating habits because of pregnancy.  It also said, that during the first trimester your body wants to build a layer of fat for labor and breast feeding, so if you already have it your body can adjust and not build the layer.  Apparently, my "layer" is enough right now. Not calling anyone on this thread overweight (so don't yell at me) but it does apply to me and helps me feel a little better.
