Very sweet and interested for a few minutes and then wanted to do their own thing, which was totally fine and expected. We didn't push holding the baby or anything unless they expressed interest. Have a gift of an activity they can do at the hospital, like a sticker book or coloring or something, to keep them occupied. My kids LOVED getting juice in cups with straws from the mother's pantry area--that's what they liked just about best of the whole hospital experience. That, and looking at the fish tank!
They have been great with their little sister so far and I am really happy about that.
You're "supposed" to have baby in basinett and greet your big kids first without baby in your arms, if that works out. :)
Also, I was worried BOTH times about my 2 year old freaking out when it was time to leave, but we talked a lot in advance about how I would be staying and they would go home, and I would come home a couple days later. We just kept goodbyes light and upbeat and talked about the fact that they'd be back the next day again, and it worked out fine. DH left with them and that was helpful for them.
