City select anyone?

Just found out #2 is on the way and like a nerd I'm already looking into a double stroller, we have a city mini that I couldn't picture my life without and I love the idea of an inline double because I hate the wilderness of double strollers, ds will be 2 when baby is born just wondering if anyone uses it as a toddler and infant stroller, the seats hold up to 50lbs so I know it's capable ...any recommendations?

I have overall been disappointed in the CS.  If I could go back, I would purchase a side by side.  My main complaint about it is the difficulty pushing when you use it as a double.  I thought it would be so handy to have all the different positions in which you could put the seats, but it is really only practical for me to use the stroller with my older child in the front (lowest) seat and the younger one in the back (highest) seat b/c the older one wants to be able to climb in and out as needed, and when using with the infant seat it was most practical to have the baby up close and facing me.  What this means is that the heaviest child is farthest away from the handle and it makes it extremely difficult to push.  It would likely be better if for some reason you found it useful to have your baby way down low in the front.

There is also only one position to have the seats in which you can actualy recline both of them, and it is with both seats facing the handlebar, which is not the usual way I would want to use the stroller with an older child.  This means that if I want to recline, I have to stop, take both kids out of the stroller, remove the seats and turn them around and then get everybody loaded up again.

Meh.  It is just not very practical for how expensive it is.  We have a side by side umbrella stroller and I love it 100X more (but, of course, it can't hold an infant seat), and have never had a problem fitting it through doors or aisles.  If I could do it again I would get something like the Bumbleride Indie Double.  Alas.  I will be using the CS again when this LO is born for the first few months as my husband would freak if I tried to convince him to buy another stroller.

I'm expecting number 2 and also love my city mini. They'll be almost 22 months apart. I debated for a long time and read a lot of reviews. Basically there is no guarantee that a 2 year old will want to sit in a stroller for all outings. I decided to get a joovy ultralight sit n stand. The older one has the option of sitting on the bench or standing. When I brought it home, DS jumped on the back so I think he will like it. I also got a double jogger for walks/ all terrain stuff. I got them both on Craigslist this time and spent less than 200 total. If we end up not loving one of them, I'm not out much or I can just resell them. I love the CM but really don't want to buy a double not knowing how much use we will get out of it.

I have to say I love my CS. Yes, making it a double makes pushing harder, thats because of the extra weight in front. But I love it. I take this stroller everywhere it's great off roading. What I love most is I can open a door and push this stroller right into a store without battling with the door. After getting this I would never recommend a side by side.
My only complaint, they might of changed it, is the carseat adporter. It's junk!! When I had ds2 the carseat would pop out and if it wasn't tied down correctly he woulda face plant right into the ground. With ds3 i am actually looking into the bassinet bc I refuse to use it again.

I LOVED the bassinet.  It's a splurge but totally worth it.  And it has a surprisingly high weight limit, DD has even taken naps and diaper changes in it.

We really like the CS.  Yes, it's heavy, but every double is heavy.  At least this double has better maneuverability and can be switched to a single, sit and stand, etc.  I wish I would have looked at it when expecting DD.

I LOVE my CS. I use it mostly as a single currently, but have used the second seat on many occasions with the baby I used to watch right after my Dd was born as well as with friends kids. Of course the stroller is harder to push with a second kid in there, DUH! Lol. I have to say tho that if you were to do a comparison to any other inline double you would find the CS is extremely maneuverable for its capabilities. As far as what pp said about the seats only being able to be reclined in one position, that is simply just not true. I have reclined them in both rear and forward facing as well as in several configurations.

I'm looking forward to being able to use it as a double when I have 2. The way I used to use it when nannying the 1 year old plus my daughter was my car seat with the adaptor in the top position and the 1 year old in the lower position also facing me. I really liked it and both babies seemed to like it as well :

I would love to see a picture of how you get both seats reclined with the kids facing forward.  The front seat squishes my younger son's legs when it reclines.  And, if I face one forward and one backward (facing each other), the boys kick each other.  And, if I face one toward me and one away from me (with the backs of the seats facing each other), they won't recline either b/c the backs of the seats hit each other.  So, please do induldge with photos of two kids in the stroller in multiple positions, b/c I still say it is not comfortably possible.

After using a side by side I would never purchase an inline again.  Including this stroller.  Yes, all inlines are heavy and hard to push.  That was my point.  This one does not solve this issue, and is way too expensive for what you get, IMO.

I am a member of another message board thats full of stroller queens.  If push and maneuverability are important to you, do not get the City Select.  The B-ready is the recommended inline double - better push, much more space between the seats, and better tires.  I personally will be getting a side by side because I pushed my cousins City Select around a park all day with 2 kids in it and I hated it.  Some people love it, some people hate it and I think you'll find that for many many strollers.  The main thing is what is most important to you.

Highly recommend testing out anything before you buy and make sure you don't push it around the store empty.  Put 2 - 20 lb items in each seat and then push it and see how you feel.
