implantation bleeding (TMI)

Have any of you ladies experienced this?  This is how I found out I was pregnant so early.  I started spotting very lightly and it's been going on for almost a week and has gotten to be less and less each day. Even in the beginning it was so light I didn't even need a panty liner.  Should I be overly concerned or is this okay that it has been going on for almost a week?

I had implantation bleeding with my pregnancy, but it was only for one short spell that finished on the same day.

In saying that, I then had bright red bleeding a week later which was caused by an SCH, and had me bleeding/spotting for another 3 days.

As long as it is light bleeding, not filling a liner within a few hours and isn't accompanied by cramping you should be ok. But if you are really concerned, contact your doctor.

BTW: Implantation bleeding isn't TMI. Pregnancy and birth are subjects which have many areas that might seem TMI anywhere else but on a board specifically for these subjects, you are pretty safe. There are limits of course, but generally a bit of bleeding is pretty standard conversation here it seems.

Have you taken a pregnancy test yet? I didn't experience IB but from what I read from others it was only a day.

How many DPO were you when you tested? If you weren't charting, how long before your period was due did you test?

Are you sure they said two weeks? Weeks 1-2 of pregnancy are when you are actually ovulating and conceiving.

Weird. Well, were they concerned about the bleeding? I take my cues from my OB. If she isn't concerned, then neither am I.

Your last perIod started on Dec. 27? Means you've now tested positive only 15 days after that...none of this makes sense to me...

Sorry, but none of this timeline works. And you would just be implanting at 2 weeks. Since an egg must be implanted for your body to make HCG the chemical detected to determine pregnancy, this makes absolutely no sense. You can have more implantation bleeding as the egg embeds further but there is no way any test would detect it immediately as you're suggesting. Are you sure your doctor wasn't saying that you ovulated/conceived 2 weeks ago? That would put you at about 4 weeks pregnant and would be a reasonable timeframe.

If your period on dec. 27th was actually a period, there's no way you could know you are pregnant now, it's just really too soon. There just hasn't been enough time for you to develop an egg, release it, fertile it, and implant it and build up hcg to turn a hpt....

There are instances where some women get almost a full fledged period yet are pregnant. This happened to me once; if i wasnt charting and an obssessive pee on a sticker, i never would have known when I had actually when conceived. There's also several other Bumpies I can think of who have similar stories. Its possible your actually pregnant from the previous cycle, making you something like 6 weeks.

Did they tell you yet what the numbers were from the blood tests?

Getting a positive HPT at 2 weeks is pretty unlikely.

Even after implantation, there needs to be about another week of development for the HCG levels to rise enough to get a positive pregnancy test.

Most people are at this point around 3.5 - 4 weeks at the earliest.

This has all been very confusing for me as well.  Believe me it didn't make sense to me either.  I am actually switching doctors that way I can deliver in my home town.  My first appointment for him is Feb 5th.  They went by my last period.  I am going to call tomorrow to schedule a sooner appointment because I really would like answeres from a doctor.  It's been the nurses answering my questions before.

I had it, I got my BFP 4 weeks later. I had a gut feeling I was though.

I agree with all of this.  There isn't enough HCG in your body to turn a pregnancy test positive at 2 weeks.  If you are indeed pregnant an u/s will probably date you much further along than what you think.

You could be "two weeks" from conception, but that would be pretty late for implantation bleeding.  Also, implantation bleeding is usually very light and only lasts up to two days.  You could just be having early spotting, which is common.  However, if 12/27 was the first day of your last period, then at the time you posted this you would just be at CD 17.  Mathematically, this is extremely unlikely to give you enough time to ovulate, conceive, implant, and test positive.  Is it possible that the 12/27 "period" was also spotting and you were actually pregnant at that time?

Before getting pregnant I was having a lot of issues with spotting quite a few days before AF was due so I started taking a B6 complex vitamin to help with my progesterone levels. It worked AWESOME so when I started spotting 6 DPO this past cycle I was concerned. I only spotted for 3 days and then it stopped, which never happened with the pre-period spotting. I had also been dealing with some serious bloat, gas, and indigestion - indigestion was my trigger because I never have those kinds of issues. So I decided to take a First Response test at 8DPO and got my first positive. The IB that had been described when I did research always said that it would be very faint, might show up when you wiped, and most women don't even notice it. I most definitely noticed but it was never enough to fill a panty liner or anything. This is the one thing I always found so confusing while we were trying. It was really frustrating at the time.
