Feedback on Simon

We're considering the name Simon if we have a boy (we find out tomorrow!), and I wanted to get your impressions of the name. I watch American Idol every year, so I do think of Simon Cowell, but the association doesn't bother me. Plus, since Simon Cowell is no longer on the show, he isn't really in the spotlight anymore. So I am looking for more opinions.

Do you think it's a nice name? Do you dislike it? Do you think of the nerdy chipmunk? Can you picture it for all stages of life? Anything else come to mind?

I absolutely love this name. It's a real name that's rarely heard which is my criteria. I really pushed Simon for DS but DH vetoed it from the start and wouldn't come around.

Simon is a great name!

We have a few friends named Simon that we've known for decades (since at least high school) and the name has really aged well with them.

I might consider using it if we have another, but like I said, so many guy friends named Simon.

Simon is probably the only boy name I truly love. Sadly my H vetoed it because it made him think of Simon Cowell, which I think is ridiculous, but oh well. It's a great name!

I like Simon, but it reminds me of Lord of the Flies. That isn't a bad thing though.

I LOVE that name! Sadly before I started having kids I named my dog my fave boy name.....Simon so I didn't get to use it myself :( Should have not ruined a good name for a dog.......

Simon is one of those names that has a lot of connections... Simon Cowell, Simon from 7th Heaven, Simon from the Bible, Simon Says, Simon Birch, and on and on... BUT none of those things distract me from it being a good name.

 People will have connections with all sorts of names but i think you could do a LOT worse than Simon!

My DS#2 is Simon and it fits him perfectly. We hardly run into other Simon's either. I think it's a great strong name.
