Winded easily??

So I wasn't a body builder or anything before I was pregnant but I was in ok shape. I could most definitely go up and down my stairs or pace the house while talking on the phone without any issues. Now, I do those things and I feel like I jogged the block! I find I'm getting winded a little easier and it's harder to catch my breath. I've only really noticed this the last couple of days. I've also started waking up in the middle of my sleep to go pee - I've NEVER woken up because I had to pee. I"ve always slept through the night. I"m only almost 6 weeks along now - could both of these things be from the growing and expanding going on in there? I didn't think I'd have anything pressed up so high it would effect my breathing just yet. Anyone else experience this?

They are definitely both normal symptoms of pregnancy!  I wake up around 2 a.m every morning to pee!  I would suggest trying to limit beverages before bedtime and that might help, but I think it is inevitable!  As far as the being winded- it happens to me as well.  I am exercising as often as I can, just more cautiously and listening to my body!

I get winded going up my stairs especially if I'm carrying laundry or something. It's bad!

I'm a band director, and my lung capacity is noticeably compromised as of late. We did breathing exercises when coming back from break and I couldn't do them while instructing the class, something I had never had a problem with before.

Our building is also old, with a lot of stairs. I dread them now when they weren't a problem before.

I'm right there with you. I run (ran) ~7 miles a week and now I am totally winded going up and down stairs, and keep getting randomly light-headed. I also am on the midnight pee train. I guess we just have to get used to it. :)

I read this this morning and thought "Lucky me!  That hasn't happened yet!"  Then I walked downstairs to grab some laundry and came back up....  Totally out of breath!

I have definitely noticed I have been short of breath, especially when walking up stairs.... a normal symptom.

Ha ha, just wait  it gets so much worse.  I have 3 flights of stairs to reach my office.  I need to stop mid flight to catch my breath.

lol Sara! Oh no!

I thought this kind of thing would have happened a little later on and not necessarily this early. I did do some reading and apparently we require more oxygen when pregnant (makes sense) so our increase in progesterone signals to the respiratory center of our brain to get busy. It's not as bad for me today but yesterday and the day before it was a little nuts.

And this early morning pee thing....ugh...3rd day in a row and no sign of stopping. I can't help but to drink because i'm ridiculously thirsty! lol!

The breathing thing freaked me out a bit so it's good to know it's common! I wanted to start doing Yoga so now I understand my limitations a bit better!

This is me, only to an extreme.  If I get winded, I'm down for the count for several hours.  For example, one time I wiped snow off my car, got somewhat winded (to be fair, there was about 6-8 inches on it), and then ended up sleeping for 6 hours in the middle of the day.  This happened again with a similar situation.  My RE told me to stop doing anything that may cause it and bring it up with my OBGYN.  Turns out, I'm anemic. Looking forward to these iron supplements to kick in!

Good luck!
