Car seats & Q for tall people

Hello, my babies are only 7 months old but I figured you ladies would have a good answer for me.  I am looking to get new carseats for my twins (I guess I will need 4?  ughh.)

Anyway, I was wondering which ones you ladies recommend.  Also my husband is VERY tall and is there a carseat that can accomodate him?  Right now we have 1 car seat in the middle seat and 1 behind the passenger.  However, I guess we are going to have to put one behind his seat once we switch over, and he is used to moving his seat all the way back.  Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

The Graco Size4Me/MySize sounds like it'd be perfect for you. It is the tallest on the market for rear & forward facing and the way it's shaped it can be fully extended rear facing in my Ford Escape. It's also pretty narrow so depending on your vehicle you may be able to get them next to each other.

We have a Britax Boulevard 70-G3 behind the driver's seat of my '11 Chevy Malibu. My husband is a tall guy too, and he can still put the driver's seat all the way back. It doesn't take too much space L to R either.

Also, since you have to buy 4 (!)... If money is a consideration, I would suggest buying two less-expensive seats for the lesser-used of your vehicles. Aria is in my car more, and it's the one we use whenever we travel anywhere (since hubs' truck gets a whopping 18 MPG...) so we put the seat with more bells and whistles in it. We bought a Safety First Guide 65 Sport from Walmart for hubs' truck, since Aria isn't in it as much.

(side note: hubs can get the seat back farther in my car with the Britax than he could with the Safety First. I think it's because the Britax is up on a base. Hubs drives a 2011 Tundra CrewMax, so car seat size isn't an issue there. Those trucks have ridiculous interior space.)

ETA: We really like both of these car seats. I have zero complaints about the Britax. LOVE it. With the Safety First, we have a lot of trouble with the buckles twisting. It's easy and quick enough to fix, but it's annoying. I also don't like the continuous harness on it, but hubs likes it better. Just depends on the person, I guess.

I'd repost this in the Nurseries and Baby Gear forum. There are some car seat experts on there that can give you good advice and maybe even specific links to your car model and what fits best.

My advice, though (since my husband and I are both tall) is definitely go to Babies R Us or someplace that you can do test fits. Sometimes what seems like it should fit and what shouldn't does. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have even bought the car we have now!

Also, you didn't mention, are you tall as well? If so, and you expect to have tall children, it generally isn't recommended that you choose Britax. Not because they don't make a good, safe product, but the shells are shorter so your kids will grow out of them quickly. I had a Britax Marathon that I had to get rid of because my 10 month son was already really scrunched-- it was just a bad fit. We got a Clek Foonf, which I love and fits him great but I wouldn't recommend to everyone because they're pretty expensive (and you need 4!) and rear facing, you'll never get two of those in the back of a Malibu and still want to sit in the front. It's a big seat and sits up very tall RF.

One recommendation that is normally given for people with smaller cars (although your car isn't small, but you need the extra room) is the Combi Coccoro. It's one of the most compact rear facing seats available but, again, if your children are tall, they may grow out of it fast since it's a smaller seat.

Good luck!

Thank you!  PP has a Malibu though, I do not.  DH has a CRV but they are much smaller these days.

And i am a munchkin, so I don't know how tall our kids will be.  LOL!

Combi Coccoro - http://www.amazon.com/Combi-Cocorro-Lightweight-Convertible-Licorice/dp/B00261RQYY

You can fit three in a row and they don't take up a lot of real estate.  I have one in my DH's truck and I like it a lot.  The puzzle piece lock can by annoying but if you do it on a regular basis it's super easy.

These have a really short shell and are generally outgrown around age 2.
