9mth old DD making herself throw up after eating chunky foods and toast

Our daughter has been eating Gerber purees since about 6.5 months and has done great with stage 1 and stage 2! She is also eating puffs and cherrios and loves them.

So this past friday I did toast with butter on it and after eating a couple pieces she put the third one in and stuck her tongue out until she threw up! So I gave up at that point. Then friday for supper/dinner I gave her Gerber pickups (cut into 4's) and she did the same thing. So Saturday I tried toast again (this time with pear puree on it) and she did the same thing. The  for dinner/supper I decided to give our foods a rest and try stage 3 gerber food, she was fine with the puree part but when a few chunky things got in there she stuck her tongue out until she threw up again!

She did start teething end of last week with fever off and on. Could this be it? Or is she not ready? Or does she just ahve to get used to it? Im just not sure if we should give up for now.

WOuld love to hear if you have had this happen to you and how you handled it.

Thank you!

My LO would definitely gag and spit up a little when we started chunky foods but not this level. Maybe ask your pedi what they suggest? Can you make chunky things a little smaller and work your way up to larger chunks?

My son did the same thing.  It's scary to see the projectile vomiting.  I just assumed he needed a little more time.  At this age, they are still getting their nutrition from breast milk or formula anyway.  I gave him a break for 2 weeks and tried again.  Now he's doing a lot better and he's eating toddler foods like a champ. Good luck!
